Fielding didn't even look like he was putting real power into his punches.
I thought the same. It was as if he thought if I don't load up he won't

He was throwing but you can see there was no power behind them. He just wanted to get paid his highest purse. 9 minutes he fought and earned a mil for that.. why not?

Some poster on hear I can’t remmeber who said they was suspicious that there was almost an agreement between the ginger fella and fielding like - “I’ll take it easy. Target your body mainly. And everyone gets paid. Just dont do anything silly. One of my friends on FB said the same.
Every bastard wins 🤣
There was no reason for him to go to the head with Fieldings height, and with fielding not looking to box at range made it even easier for Canelo to work the body

Don't know mate some of the ones rocky took were sickeners. The one that ended it was a peach although what fight fielding had him in had been taken by that point

I'm surprised so many are criticising Fielding's performance. He fought well.

If he had more power, more movement, a tighter defence, used the jab, a tougher body, looked for the counters and showed more ring IQ he could have won.

And a good stiff broom.

Fielding's that comfy-shoes quiet bloke in the pub who tries to break up fights. Not lacking balls in the least, but he's no carpark man.

Alvarez does seem to like messing around with weight, before and after the tough middleweight fights with Golovkin. These fights, that he has little chance of losing, vs Smith at 154, Chavez around super middle and now Fielding at 168, really seem to do something for his ego.

Hope Callum Smith gets a crack at him, though.

Canelo looks just like a flawless boxer: the most enjoyable to watch for me since Floyd Jr.; men, I just can't picture all of his assets: terrific body-puncher, solid chin, tight defence, beautiful jab, quick reflexes, both heavy and fast-handed, effective footwork, accuracy and coordination, of course, ring smarts a-go-go, training responsibly and trusting the right entourage, elegant, humble, audacious... I could never name them all...

He's like a smaller version of Joe Louis, in terms of skill-completeness.

The only issue with him, by now, will be his longevity: if he can stay fit for another decade, he'll probably reach a level no other Mexican boxer has reached, so far: without taking anything from the great Chavez Sr., Canelo is stronger-minded, more complete, and has fought none other than Floyd Jr., at 23 years old(!). Remarkable, to say the least  .

You can't take away his class and style: his boxing skills and I.Q. are unmistakable.

It's not some Mexican meat issue that defines a career: he has taken dozens of tests throughout his career and nothing resulted. He fought on equal means with bigger guys and succeeded, and his early loss to Floyd is no shame, proves he's got a bit of guts too.

Haters gonna hate anyway.

I agree, he is very talented. He lost the defining fights of his career but got the decisions gift wrapped. Can make a good case for Lara beating him too.

kindof a classic jacob post really, made some sense early but progressively less (passed tests = innocence? anyone told this guy Lance Armstrong never failed a test?) as it went on.

The entire sport would be void if everyone on drugs was banned.

maybe that would eradicate the drug use moving forward if it happened. Something has to be done, I just don't know what.
