He has a real grudge and hate in his heart which seems to stem from being disrespected by GG who as someone said, did not lick his arse before the first fight and was a young "upstart".

It's a fcking fight, not an invitation to the prom. It is all mind games and part of the battle. Fights are not only in the ring, they are also in the build up and so many great fighters mastered that, Ali being a great example.

GG said things and acted in a way which was part of his battle plan, and it nearly worked. How can Froch not understand it was all part of that?!

And jesus, imagine if he'd ever had someone like James Toney sat opposite on a press conference table - "I'll beat you and your mamas ass."
I think it does actually stem from George making personal remarks about his family I read somewhere. Not excusing Carl, it's ancient history and he should move on.

Ye carl and his two bellend brothers owned george this day,3 on 1 and eddie hearn standing there with a smug look on his face too. Carl lost my respect in the build up to GG first fight,Groves said he would beat froch, now to any normal person this is just someone saying what they believe to be true but with froch? No,this is disrespectful and arrogant in the cobra's eyes and all through the build up thats all carl could say that GG disrespected him. Now i loved the way carl fought and had some good nights watching him but as a person he was a tit he has always been a tit and will always be a tit.
It's not his 2 brothers, it's one of them, Karl is not his brother.

Not for Carl any of this modern bullshit of pretending you like and respect everyone so as not to offend any over precious types, for whatever reason he can’t stand groves and so he gives him a dig every chance he gets.

FairPlay for being honest.

I don’t think being a polite and generally likeable person is ‘modern bullshit’ to be honest, seems rather old school and adult, something Froch isn’t

But why should froch be polite and behave in a likeable manner towards someone he dislikes intensely. That would be touchy feely let’s not offend anyone bullshit.

By all means be polite and affable when dealing with colleagues and the general public but not extending those niceties to absolutely everyone regardless of personal enmity doesn’t preclude froch from being old school or adult

George really got to Froch mentally in those two fights. I remember when Froch was close to tears during an interview they both had on Sky Sports. Someone in Froch's camp said that he started crying in the dressing room just before the second fight.

I've never seen a fighter get to someone as much as Groves did with Froch. Groves moved on pretty quickly after the two fighrs. Froch never did. I think Froch may need therapy as he's never gotten over those two fights.

Nothing manly, old school or mature about having a dig at a boxer who has just retired and was a helluva exciting & likeable fighter who will certainly he missed by anyone with an ounce of objectivity.

I met froch once and he was right as rain with me. I appreciate that doesn’t give me the right to say he’s a wonderful bloke but your bizarre claim that he acts like an arrogant pudendum “all the time” is obviously wide of the mark. Like everyone else I’m sure he has his good days and bad days.

In life surely there should be scope to treat people who you dislike with a little bit of disdain. Froch isn’t overstepping the mark in any way, not threatening violence, not insulting George’s family, just mildly badmouthing someone he doesn’t like. I dont understand why it riles you so much

You do wonder how happy Carl is in retirement. We joke about him shoehorning himself into everything and being a general tosspot but anyone who seems so desperate to hold onto past glories just comes across as discontent in his new life.

Groves didn't even blink when he was questioned on SSN about Carl's comments, even smiled. You suspect he is walking away content.

Maybe being 'The Cobra' is all he had. Banging his wife may get boring after a while, and even he knows she probably married the boxer, not him.

Totally. Many fighters have had chips on their shoulders, but that is maybe just something to give them extra fire. Once that chip isn't removed post retirement, you are likely to just be dealing with someone who is unhappy in themselves.

I was the first person in the dressing room post his win v Adamu. He was nearly in tears and I had Rob and Spud telling me to keep the questions positive. He could well be someone who needs constant reassurance, and once you are no longer a fighter and have kiss asses like above, that source of reassurance is gone.

Hence he has to harp back to his glory days.

Froch is a plum. But the same reason he's a plum today is the same reason those fights were compelling viewing from a build up and fight point of view. Froch is froch. He's flawed but those flaws are also what made him the fighter he is.
