Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
DAZN officially announced Wednesday morning that Anthony Joshua will make his debut on American soil against Jarrell Miller on June 1 at Madison Square Garden. The unbeaten British superstar will defend his IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles against Brooklyn’s Miller in a main event DAZN will stream live from “The Mecca of Boxing” in New York.
The 29-year-old Joshua has fought exclusively in the United Kingdom since the 2012 Olympic gold medalist turned pro five years ago. He has long expressed a desire to fight in the United States, where his rival, WBC champ Deontay Wilder, resides.
“June 1st, I am heading to ‘The Big Apple’ and I plan to embrace the culture and leave with an appetite for more,” Joshua said in a press release issued by DAZN. “I will be fighting Jarrell Miller at the legendary Madison Square Garden. It has been an honor and a blessing to fight at some of the best venues in the world at home, in the UK, not least Wembley Stadium. But the time has come to head across the Atlantic and defend my heavyweight titles in the USA. I am looking forward to taking on another challenge with a good boxer and a brilliant talker. It will be an exciting fight. I will leave nothing to chance and plan on dismantling Miller in style to make my mark.”

Can't wait to see the look on Big Baby's face when he finds out what it's like being in the ring with a good fighter. He can't fight off his back foot; the more output he performs, the more opportunities he creates for AJ. I think he gets pounded into submission in five.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
this whole fight is based on 2 things:
1. Can Miller hold a shot?
2. Miller needs to land clean and hurt AJ in the first 2 rounds, otherwise Miller gets pushed back and pounded.

I don't give Miller much chance unless he gets lucky.
This might well be the first AJ fight I don't bother watching.

For some reason, I literally don't give a fck about this fight and I say that as someone who spunked a grand on a couple ringside tickets to the Pulev (then Takem) fight
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
This fight was the worst kept secret in boxing.
With Wilder and Fury looking likely to rematch, any opponent they announce for AJ is going to be underwhelming.
But I don't mind the fight.
Miller is a clear level or two below Joshua, but is decent enough to be competetive for a round or two, and looks tough enough to last until the mid rounds at least.
Hearn talking about a 'monster' card, we will see.....

I'm thinking about going myself. If the card is good, I'm def going to try to cop tix. I'd pay for a Miller beatdown, as I've been open about how much I really loathe the big mouth baby.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
Wilder and Fury likely to rematch. Ortiz still needs a decent win after losing to Wilder. Leaves Whyte, Miller and Pulev. Probably not a great deal between the 3 of them so I don't have too many problems with this fight. I mean, I think Joshua should beat him and look good doing it, but that's probably the case with the other 2 as well.
Wilder-Fury 2, AJ-Miller and Whyte-Breazeale is a better spring/summer than Wilder-Fury 2, AJ-Whyte 2 and Miller and Breazeale sitting out doing nothing I suppose.

Saw a tweet saying Algieri vs Coyle and Beltran vs Burns are rumoured for the under card.

Yeah, I'm waiting to see for sure, but that doesn't sound terrible. I'm hoping for a good prospect or two. I'd love to see Brandan Figuerora.ElJefe wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 13:40Saw a tweet saying Algieri vs Coyle and Beltran vs Burns are rumoured for the under card.

So Wembley in April is cancelled?
If nothing else, it’ll be interesting to see how the PPV sells (if we ever get to find out). Joshua is madly popular with the casuals, but lots of them won’t want to pay and stay up until 4am waiting to see him.

While I don't see this breaking any PPV records, I'd bet interest grows between now and the fight. Miller's size and output makes it somewhat interesting.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 13:59 So Wembley in April is cancelled?

I don't think it's too close a date to salvage a card. It's 9+ weeks out.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 14:03Matchroom probably have to pay Wembley some compensation.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 13:59 So Wembley in April is cancelled?

There is literally no fight that is suited for the stadium right now.

I'm not 100% sure they will rematch.
I read the WBC have ordered the winner of Wilder Fury is to face the winner of Brazeale Whyte next.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I would have thought Wilders team would have seen in a rematch clause after Fury beats him again?
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
I hadn't seen that.KiwiRider wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 14:28I'm not 100% sure they will rematch.

Hoping it’ll be as exciting as Naz’s New York debut

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
Good fight.
Given the casuals are up in arms about this being a mismatch i had hoped the opening odds would be a bit longer (4/1 Miller win).
I'll be having a punt on Miller to stop this great british fraud job.

I assume they are meaning after the rematch since the first fight was a drawoogiebe wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 14:30sKiwiRider wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 14:28I'm not 100% sure they will rematch.
