WBA Gold Championship
I had not been aware of this title until this morning.
Apparently not a World Championship but a step on the ladder akin to the WBC Silver.

There’s a clause that says the champ has to come out to Spandau Ballet’s popular hit.
Re: WBA Gold Championship
This is the unfortunate side effect of having too many sanctioning bodies/belts.
For a boxer in this country there should be 6 potential titles - Area, Region (English or Celtic), British, European, World.
And there shouldn't be 4 World titles either, while we're having fantastic conversations
To be the champ should mean something more than 'I waited around long enough till the two best fighters in my division had a draw, so I got to fight for an 'Interim' title while they justifiably have a rematch', for example.

Just more bulls**t that makes certain aspects of "world level" boxing more farcical

Re: WBA Gold Championship
Hello,
as ridicoulous as it is that the WBA invented another "World title", can somebody explain what the Gold title exactly is?
How can it be won, what's it's value and what chance gets the Gold champion?
Can the Gold Champion challenge the Interim Champion or the Regular Champion?
How's the WBA title order right now in value/meaning...
WBA Super
WBA Regular
WBA Gold
WBA Interim
is that ranking correct? According to the newest WBA Rankings it looks like that to me, what's your opinion.
I also read that the gold champion gets a titleshot at the interim title, which looks like that the interim title is higher than the Gold. I'm looking forward to your answers and hope the confusion can be cleared, thanks a lot

Re: WBA Gold Championship
I'm over the belts - I prefer using common sense to decipher who #1 is in the division
Re: WBA Gold Championship
I'm all for this, provided that it is the Razz Prince version from Phoneshop.jameswilson wrote: ↑16 Feb 2019, 13:27 There’s a clause that says the champ has to come out to Spandau Ballet’s popular hit.
Re: WBA Gold Championship
I thought the gold belt was lower than the interim belt. I was under the impression that having the gold belt puts you in line to fight for the regular belt. But as there is also an interim belt at HW then that's between gold and regular. Maybe you're right though and the gold makes you mandatory for the interim. That'd be a bit mad though because it sort of makes the interim title necessary and in some divisions they don't have one.danundisputed wrote: ↑04 Mar 2019, 11:31 Hello,

Re: WBA Gold Championship
As far as I can tell the Gold Championship is not called a World Championship by the WBA, but is more akin to an International or Inter Continental Championship.
I am unsure if the belt says World Champion on it as I haven't been able to find a clear image of a belt, but even if it does it is basically the WBAs version of the WBC silver which does SAY World Champion on it but is not considered a World Championship.

Re: WBA Gold Championship
Still no clear definition of what the gold title is, or what rights a gold champion gets.
Does the Gold Champion become the mandatory challenger for the WBA Interim title...or what?
Did some research but could not yet find a clear definition.
It's funny to me, that there's no valid information to find, couldn't see anything on the WBA page about it.
Looking forward to a clear definition like... The WBA Gold title is...and gives the holder the rights to challenge....?
And something more confusing...The WBA Man of Triumph belt:
Wiki says: Since 2015, the WBA awards a customized version of their Super champion belt to big fights involving a WBA championship. The WBA called this the Man of Triumph belt, named after the trophy awarded to the winner of Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. The plate of the belt has the images of the two boxers fighting. Floyd Mayweather Jr. received the first Gold-plated version of the belt while Manny Pacquiao was awarded a one-time Rhodium-plated version.[14] Other recipients of the custom Gold-plated belt are Anthony Joshua[15], Vasyl Lomachenko[16], Manny Pacquiao[17], Oleksandr Usyk[18], Canelo Alvarez[19], and Callum Smith[20].
When did Anthony Joshua win that belt, anybody got a photo of Joshuas WBA Super Man of Triumph belt?

Yes, I guess so. I found out that he received the WBA Super "Man of triumph" belt against Klitschko

World class boxers should refuse to fight in wba sanctioned bouts. It wouldn’t harm their careers as there are no shortage of other world title options to pursue

People actually gathered in a room, colluded in ideas about what should be the next step to make this governing body the best one in the sport.
And then they actually all agreed this, another belt, was a good idea.
I bet they patted themselves on the back and went for celebration drinks afterwards.

LOL! And then laughed at the additional sanctioning fees they would reap.Fightnight Scores wrote: ↑08 Apr 2019, 11:18 People actually gathered in a room, colluded in ideas about what should be the next step to make this governing body the best one in the sport.

The only "rights" these belts come with is the "right" for the ABC body to charge the fighter/promoter/tv station with a fee for it!danundisputed wrote: ↑09 Apr 2019, 08:59 I totally agree with you guys. But still nobody can tell me what the WBA Gold title is and what rights the holder gets
