But that's somewhat simplified.
A great small man can beat a good big man.
Jones over Ruiz.
But sometimes we don't recognize the smaller man's greatness until later.
Agree...Ruiz wasn't good.

Errol Spence is clearly A LOT better than John Ruiz.SenorPipino wrote: ↑16 Feb 2019, 16:08But that's somewhat simplified.

Spence is not more athletic nor more slick. That's just a myth assumed probably because he's Afircan American.Breaducce wrote: ↑16 Feb 2019, 14:21Given the size discrepancy if Garcia has a hand speed advantage it will be minimal at best, but Spence's strength and power advantage will be significant. Also, I disagree that he moves better then Spence, Garcia and Spence both have non flashy technical educated feet, the only difference is that Spence is much more athletic then Garcia making his movement more explosive. Garcia is a little better counter puncher then Spence, but Spence has better punch variation and a more dynamic offense, meaning there is no position that Garcia is safe in this fight. Also, Spence is more durable then Garcia as he has faced a bigger puncher in Kell Brook and not hurt or been dropped, whereas Garcia was dropped by Roman Martinez. The only knock on Spence is he does not move his head as much as he should, but he still has good defense and does not take excessive punishment in any of his fights. Also their is a question on how the weight will effect Garcia's stamina because Spence gets better as the fight goes to the later rounds.IKSRTFO wrote: ↑16 Feb 2019, 12:46Spence isn't faster. I think that's a myth placed on him maybe out of stereotype but Mikey definitely has faster hands and moves better than Spence.SenorPipino wrote: ↑16 Feb 2019, 11:11 Spence will win.
He's too talented, too strong for even a fighter as good as Garcia.
Smaller guys coming up usually have one advantage--speed. But I think Spence is faster.
So what does Garcia have in his repertoire to upend Spence? Little.
Some keep shouting that "Mikey must know something" to take this bout with the bigger man.
All he knows is that he'll be earning a career high paycheck. That's what it comes down to.
And Garcia's reputation won't be hurt in a defeat to a man who is 2 weight divisions heavier.
It's Spence who is taking the risk. A loss to Garcia would be catastrophic in terms of credibility as one of boxing's best.
But Spence will come through. Too big, strong and talented.

And people saying he's never been buzzed hasn't seen all of his fights.
Me too. Garcia is a smart fighter.sturm vogel wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 18:01 Can't see Garcia winning, but think his boxing is good enough to survive the 12.

Should Spence dominate and even stop Garcia, I hope he receives some credit.
I suspect a convincing win by Spence will just be dismissed as a bigger man predictably taking care of business against a smaller, weaker fighter.
I believe that all of the other top welters would not have an easy night with Garcia.
No way is Garcia gonna give up on his stool.Hobbitey123 wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 17:55 Any news on who has UK tv rights? I'd assume ITV due to the pbc deal bit have heard rumours of BN picking this one up?
For the record I'm backing Spence to make Garcia retire on his stool in the 8th![]()
I think the way his fight with Salido ended, there are those who feel that Garcia might not deal well with real adversity.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 19:07No way is Garcia gonna give up on his stool.Hobbitey123 wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 17:55 Any news on who has UK tv rights? Garcia is too smart to allow himself to thrown to the lions. I'm not betting on this fight, but I can't wait to see it.SenorPipino wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 19:12I think the way his fight with Salido ended, there are those who feel that Garcia might not deal well with real adversity.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 19:07No way is Garcia gonna give up on his stool.Hobbitey123 wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 17:55 Any news on who has UK tv rights? Because he's a terrific fighter. Garcia has had a few fights at 140 so the jump to welter isn't the insurmountable obstacle that many have painted it to be.
