I have no issue with 4 rds being 10-10. There were at least 6 rds that could be argued either way. Why should an be official be forced to pick a winner of a rd when neither clearly won it? The issue in this fight was Max DeLuca absurdedly calling rd 12 for Porter. It was probably Ugas’ best of the night and it cost him a draw. Jack Reiss also dropped the ball on the blown kd call. It wasn’t a clean kd as Porter was off balance but a punch was thrown, it grazed Porter and he went down. That’s a kd and should have been ruled as such. That blown call cost Ugas the fight.
I found even round scoring refreshing. I don't feel as if we see that enough. Judges force themselves to pick a winner too often, IMHO.
I couldn’t agree more man. You are absolutely 100% correct and I don’t mind telling you that it may be the first time that’s ever happened in your life. Lol.

But there are so many even rounds that don’t get scored as such and I believe is the biggest reason why we have these putrid decisions that poison our sport. Good call buddy.

so when ppl make a blanket statment that judges are ordered not to score them they are being a bit short sighted
No one's "ordered" to not score rounds even and that was never said....what's short sighted is scoring multiple rounds even over a course of a fight when a professional should have the knowledge to differentiate between the two....most judges follow this criteria..

most judges where? you see even rounds scored in most parts of the world. it seems an american/na american thing to detest them

1 or 2 even rounds aint nothing to get worked up about. and these wacky scenarios of every other round being scored even virtually never actually happen

I don't think anyone envies the judges on fights like this one.
After 6, I had it level. No way was I confident of that either.
Ugas, Porter, a draw. Take your pick.

AND, if I could be so bold as to add on to your point, if a scorer doesn’t feel confident about a round then they shouldn’t score it one way or another. Let’s face it, there’s human error in any sport with a human judging fast action without benefit of instant replay. Judges miss punches just like we do. How many times do u say “ah nothing landed on that exchange” only to see in between rounds with instant slow motion replay that we missed it as fans?

Even rounds should be encouraged from here on out.

The only round I ever actually score 10-10 is the first round..

Then you get guys like Froch who score 10-10 even though the Brit lost the round haha

ya, i defo dont think a judge should have to force themselves to give it to one guy if they really thought nothign split the fighters

so many starting rounds especially neither guy really does anything., a lot of ppl just basically end up scoring it to a guy because he maybe threw 1 more punch or something super trivial.

i freely use 10-10 rounds but even then pretty much never score more then 2 of them over a 12 round fight. most times there is a guy who does more in my eyes, but when there isnt i think judges should feel free to score even

Where? Last night for example...36 rounds judged a not a single round scored even....that's how a professional judges..and that fight had some close rounds...
I Don't have a problem with one or two here and there but to say there'd be less robberies when more rounds are scored even is just plain wrong.

I think that they should even take it a bit further and say to only score a round to the OBVIOUS round winner. When I score a round, I keep a rolling tally of scored punches for each guy. Jabs are 1. I score 2-5 points for power punches scored depending on their effectiveness per my perception. I’ll give 3 points to the fighter pushing action at end of round and I’ll reward points for defensive prowess as well.

The winner of round for me is the boxer with 7 or more points than the other boxer. 6pts or less is a 10-10 round. Knockdowns trump all points. I go 10-8 unless the other boxer does something crazy after being knocked down.

I despise these lazy judges that make their decision by who wins the end of every round. 10 seconds compared to 2:50 mins of action. So dumb.

I do follow worldwide fights and more than 2 rounds judged even on a single card is rare....and if your not aware how other countries do it then your sight needs work my friend..

on the global scene even rounds are seen in fights all the time, i dont think globally judges are advised not to score many even rounds, it just works out that most ppl who do ggive even rounds dont feel the need to score loads of them as ive said. you do commonly see 1-2 scored in fights in europe, south america, australia, japan etc though.

the big distain for them seems a more regional thing in a certan area

In Canelo/Golovkin 2 I scored either 3 or 4 rounds even, I also had Golovkin winning something along 116-112 or 115-113 something along 6-4-2, or 6-3-3, just as an example. I feel like even rounds eliminate some of the nonsense of “story of the fight” or “moving forward/aggression” vs “effective aggression”. It seemed as though GGG was punished by the judges in fight #2 for boxing effectively, simply because he was jabbing effectively and moving whilst Canelo was rewarded for simply moving forward.
Regardless, so nice to be able to chat/disagree/agree in a civil manner with fellow “aficionados/fans”. 2019 shaping up to possibly be a great year of fights.

Problem is there was no even round score. All 3 judges scored it 10-9 for someone. Once judge happened to have the TOTAL score 95 95.

Ugas to ask WBC for immediate rematch

“Judging is a very hard thing to do and I respect all judges because I know the difficulties of scoring," said Ugas.

“But one thing I won’t accept is the judging of Max Deluca’s last round call on Saturday night. If anyone felt the fight was close or not, we can agree to disagree, because both of us are great fighters. But one thing I know is universal, is that I clearly won round twelve as was evident on the other two judges’ score cards, in addition to the 99% of all media and fans who had me winning round twelve as well.

"I beat and chased Porter all over the ring and wasn’t given credit for a knockdown either. But hey, I respect Jack Reiss, one of the best referees in boxing. He made an honest mistake on a spilt second call. But DeLuca’s card had Porter winning by one point going into the last round. I get a bad feeling in my stomach even thinking about this.

"I say to myself, did DeLuca know in his mind that Porter needed to be awarded round twelve to win the fight? This question I need answered by him. As fighters we put our lives on the line when upon entering the ring, and all we ask for is a fair shake.

"Well if Max Deluca is ever judging your fight, trust me, I don’t feel he’s capable of doing a respectable job. I want everyone to look at round twelve and tell me who won that round, it was blatantly obvious it was me.

“California boxing commissioner, Andy Foster, who does most shows in the USA, is great at his job and is one of the best commissioners in all of boxing if not the very best. I would kindly ask him to take notice of this behavior, because Max Deluca is incompetent. I plead…or should I say beg, for an immediate rematch with Porter, and the WBC should honor my request. Porter is a great fighter and I’m very blessed to share a ring with such a great champion. I have the utmost respect for him and his father, they are great people. I hope we can share a ring soon with competent judges scoring the fight.”
