Louis-Baer (a question)

I was just watching the Louis-Baer fight; Louis nails Baer with a nasty right hand and Baer takes a knee and is counted out. What I couldn't tell was whether Louis was able to follow-up the right hand with a short left or not. It looks like he might have but the viewing angle is bad. Does anyone know if there was a second punch or did Baer go down just from the right hand?

Baer went down from three lefts. He had been taking a lot of punishment.

Interesting, watch this version of the fight and reduce the speed to .75 and you will see the right hand (possibly followed by a short left.) The video you posted is cut up for some reason. The punch lands at about 15:57 in this video, but it too switches camera angles just after the right hand lands which makes the left hand hard to see; making it difficult to discern which punch actually drops Baer.

Personally I think it is the left that puts him down, but the right hand sets it up. Be sure to reduce the speed, the fight looks much better.

Going to have to search out a third version.

In the second version the film has been spliced out for whatever reason just after 15:55. The first version, the one I posted, shows the knockout more accurately.

I see what you are saying, I felt (in my clip) you could almost see the final left that dropped him; what is odd is that in your clip the viscous right hand Baer ate is missing. Both clips seem to have been doctored. But again, it was the three left hands that finished him. Thanks!

Looked like a Big right hand following by a grazing left hook to the temple then a delayed re-action and then Baer slowly sinks to the canvas.

There is also this plead for the audience not to be racist; it seems they were scare there might be a riot if the Black man wins, so they hold off the fight and lecture the audience on respecting the golden rule of "may the best man win."

I didn't mean to say he used the word racist I just meant they were scared of some sort of racial reaction to Louis winning. Did you hear how he said he made the same speech for the Louis-Carnera fight? -- You are correct the Spanish Civil War started in '36. -- I wonder what he was referring to? Maybe just the rise of the Nazis or maybe Mussolini in Ethiopia? I think that started in '35.

Funny how they apologized for having commercials. -- It was great listening to how excited he got calling the fight.
