Same tactic taken by Wilder to avoid Joshua. Simply put.

I think that video demonstrates why most of us said this fight would definitely not be made

so why have they been playing the wbo ranking game so strictly if there just gonna turn this down

did they think theyd get into a vacant title fight vs a weak opponent??

I suppose they were hoping the WBO would have a much weaker champion than Kovalev by the time Yarde got mandatory? Or more likely, they just blindly followed FW’s tried & tested WBO route without enough consideration of who was at the end of it.

There was an interview with Tunde in Boxing Monthly a few months back and he's a Mayweather fanboy, he's the only trainer ive heard praise Floyd's padwork as if its some sort of genius training method, he even mentioned Mayweather in this interview here, "if Mayweather never came to London the why should we go over there?" He thinks its all about himself as well, total egomaniac. " I built this fight" and " Emirates with 2 London boys"

Warren's been pretty bold in Dubois's matchmaking so I have a feeling Tunde is in charge of Yarde's, I'm sure he must think because of how Mayweather played hardball in negotiations in his later career and always came out on top then so should Yarde, totally forgetting what Mayweather had achieved before becoming Money Mayweather

Boxing needs rid of these types

Tunde argues that no one believed Froch/Groves could sell out Wembley, Dream It, Believe It, Achieve It is a line he kept repeating throughout the interview

Forch/Groves at Wembley is a far cry from Kov/Yarde, don't you think?

There are no weak opponents at the LHW top table, it's one of the toughest divisions right now. If Yarde's team don't take this fight they will look like absolute fools.

Getting the fight in the UK probably isn't out of the question, Emirates would be a big ask, but Kovalev is a big enough name to justify PPV, they could have Dubois vs Gorman as chief support.

Wow.
Yarde is the A side because Kovalev last fight was at a 12'000 seater in Texas but Yarde boxed at the historic Royal Albert Hall (capacity 5500 which wasn't sold out).
Yarde is the A side because Adidas give him free socks.
Yarde is the A side because Mayweather never boxed in London.
Bizarre.

If FW believed in Yarde he'd pay for Kov to come here. If Yarde were to win it would make him a star and put him in line for some very lucrative fights. As said here...there are no soft options at 175.

We will soon find out how highly FW rates Yarde - bid absurdly high on the purse bid and secure your man home advantage if you back him!

Kovalev May attract a decent crowd. No Emirates, but a decent crowd. He has only fought once in the UK and that was when he won the WBO belt. What was that? 2013?

Out of respect to Tunde, think he is totally deluded when it comes to fighting at the Emirates - you can't go from selling out the Royal Albert Hall to a stadium - his Froch/Groves comparison was so unrealistic it made me switch off the video!
