Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - TBA
Bob Arum had never even heard of Tunde Ajayi until a reporter relayed what Anthony Yarde’s trainer/manager said about his fighter facing Sergey Kovalev.
Even then, Arum didn’t pay Ajayi’s comments much mind. Ajayi asserted this week that Yarde is the “A side” against Kovalev and that their upcoming light heavyweight title fight must take place in England.
The location, according to Arum, will depend upon where he, allegedly, who promotes Yarde, and Main Events’ Kathy Duva, Kovalev’s promoter, can agree is the most profitable place for their 12-round, 175-pound title bout. Arum is handling negotiations with Warren for Kovalev-Yarde because Arum’s Top Rank Inc. received contractual options on Kovalev when he signed a contract for ESPN to handle his immediate rematch with Eleider Alvarez.
“I’ll talk with Frank, and wherever the most money is, that’s where we’re gonna do it,” Arum told BS.com. “In other words, we have a big budget to do it on prime time in the United States, which would be early in the morning in England. Now, if they come up with a lot more money to do it in England, and we do it in the afternoon here in the United States, I’m sure Kathy and Kovalev and everybody will be very happy. This is not gonna be a contentious kind of thing.
“This will be figuring out where the fighters can make the most money, irrespective of where it is. Kovalev couldn’t care less if it’s in the United States or in the UK. It depends on his purse. With Kathy, it’s the same thing. So, we’re all gonna sit down and figure out where the biggest pot is. ESPN is not gonna pay the same amount for the fight if it’s on in the afternoon [in the United States], as opposed to if it was on in the evening, in prime time. So, we’ve gotta figure that out.”
Nevertheless, Arum anticipates that the Kovalev-Yarde fight will take place either late in June or sometime in July.
“It could be at the end of June,” Arum said. “July, as far as I know, is open. We haven’t started programming for July. It could be the end of June. Through the middle of June, we’re booked up.”

I'm sure if FW put a mega bucks offer in that everyone would be happy.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 16:38Wily old Bob sees right through it and calls their bluff then - says they’re happy to have the fight in the UK if it’s the most profitable, which obviously it won’t be considering Yarde’s relative lack of popularity.
It all depends on whether he thinks he will get his money back.
Is Tunde confident enough to remortgage his house!

Hmmm, I wonder how much it would cost to hire out the Emirates. Probably not too far off Wembley?Coco wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 16:43I'm sure if FW put a mega bucks offer in that everyone would be happy.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 16:38Wily old Bob sees right through it and calls their bluff then - says they’re happy to have the fight in the UK if it’s the most profitable, which obviously it won’t be considering Yarde’s relative lack of popularity.

I will be shocked if this fight happens. But fair play to Yarde and team if they do take it.
Huge jump up class - from top 50 to top 3.

It’s as simple as working out if a U.K. Kovalev fight makes more money than a US Kovalev fight. Yarde is not in the financial equation in terms of being a draw.
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - TBA
I think Bob knows its not gonna happen , he's right Kovalev would'nt care where it is , Bobs really just asking Fwank to get the cheque book out , ,
But it aint gonna happen , Fweanks not gonna throw his money away , and ruin a guy he's put time into , .

For this to happen, it would go against how allegedly has conducted all his business within boxing promoting....I wish it did happen but Frank knows Yarde gets cruched and then Frank makes very little out of the Yarde band wagon he is creating with his social media followers. Frank is more likely to look for an aging fighter he can take next who was a big name 6+ years ago, not a current top fighter still

Purse Bid Set For April 8
The sanctioning body gave both sides thirty days to negotiate and reach an agreement.
Because the two sides were unable to reach an agreement, the sanctioning body has now set a purse bid. The purse bid will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Monday, April 8th at the World Boxing Organization headquarters in San Juan, PR.
The minimum acceptable bid for the fight is $300,000.00.
Under the WBO rules, if the title fight between the champion and the mandatory challenger is held in the country of origin, residence or nationality of the champion, the champion shall receive 75% of the purse and the challenger shall receive the remaining 25%. In fight for the title held in any other country, the champion shall receive 80% of the purse and the challenger shall receive the remaining 20%.

We now have an excuse ready..
Let's say we have a winning bid of $2m..
Yarde will be getting around $500,000
no doubt a career high.. ESPN can and may bid that much.. but it depends where the money is..
Will FW bid that much?
Then they will say they declined the purse bid because Yarde would be getting too less..
Well then quickly come up with a deal!!!
