Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
Khan claims that he is the best fighter Crawford has ever faced. Do you agree with Khan ?
To be honest, I have no answer.

Re: Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
I clicked undecided because I think - at his peak - he maybe was.
but now ?
No chance - Postol, Indongo (before the fight anyway!) Horn and Benavidez all better than a washed-up Khan easily.

Easily.
If Khan had a chin, Crawford would be in for a frustrating night. Even if Khan may be a bit past his best years.
Gamboa was definitely on the slide physically. And never showed himself to be anything close to resembling special at lightweight.

I have a dilemma - Khan or Gamboa (but Gamboa at 126 or maximum 130) ?

That definitely started gamboas slide. He looked better than anyone has against bud early.SenorPipino wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 12:54 Easily.

Gamboa is/was too small for LW.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 13:16That definitely started gamboas slide. He looked better than anyone has against bud early.SenorPipino wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 12:54 Easily.

On paper yes..
Khan May be past his best but he’s not shot. Even now I’d still consider him One of TC’s best opponents. Along with maybe 1 or 2 others.

He's about the same size as Roberto Duran and that wasn't the question to begin with you asked for his best opponent, gamboa has definitely done the best against him, then you come back with that. It was funny.ValMar wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 14:06??Onetimeonly wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 13:34ValMar wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 13:18Gamboa is/was too small for LW.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 13:16That definitely started gamboas slide. Re: Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
Yeah it's either Khan or Gamboa. I think those two are probably on about the same skill level. Khan being the bigger man of the two might be slightly more challenging, but then again Crawford is also an even better, more experienced fighter than he was against Gamboa so it might be easier for him than Gamboa was, but yeah Khan ranks up there as one of his better opponents to date.
Re: Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
I'm going with yes, skill wise.. Offensively anyways. I would be surprised if Khan doesn't win a couple of the early rounds based on him being a fast starter and his potential hand speed advantage. I assume someone as talented and Crawford will eventually figure Khan out and get him out of there though. It will be a fun fight to watch.

Yeah Khan usually does well in the early going. Even in his toughest losses. Against Danny Garcia and Canelo he at least did well for the opening few rounds.NateJR wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 14:38 I'm going with yes, skill wise.. Offensively anyways. Probably still the best and certainly the most entertaining. Khan can't help but be exciting. I'd hate to be a big Amir Khan fan as the toll on the nerves every fight would be too much.
Crawford has it to because anything else than a convincing win will make all the praise heaped upon him seem somewhat misplaced.
Crawford v Spence would tell us everything we need to know and then there wouldn't be any question of who is best opponent was. Another one that simply must be made for the good of this sport.

A peak in shape focussed Khan is a thing of beauty. Fantastic skills, blazing speed.
But when was the last time we saw Khan in shape, focussed and peak?

Why didnt you offer other names of Crawford foes: Postol, Gamboa, etc?
I say Postol is better than Khan. His beatdown of Matthysse is a better win than any of Khan's wins. I would say Amir's best win was his close decision over Maidana.
Postol was 28-0 when he fought Bud & has never been KOd. Besides Crawford, Postol's only loss was to Josh Taylor, who would also beat Khan IMO.

Even when Khan IS in shape his chin is a major liability. 3 of his 4 losses are by KO.tiny_acres wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 16:32 A peak in shape focussed Khan is a thing of beauty. Fantastic skills, blazing speed.

Re: Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
Apparently no one in this thread is considering Felix Diaz to be Crawford's best opponent. Seems to be that Gamboa is the only name anyone is floating.
Re: Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
How much favorite Crawford is? At least 8 to 1 ?
Re: Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
No.
Even at Khans peak it is still no.
Khan was only 3rd best in his weight class at his peak.

Certainly not Felix Diaz by statistics. www.premierboxingorganisation.com/welterweight-147 Diaz was only ranked 7th at the time he fought Crawford.

Re: Is Khan the best fighter Crawford has ever faced ?
Amir Khan is an Olympic silver medallist, competed in ten world title fights (spanning four weight classes), and defeated several former world champions, such as: Marco Antonio Barrera; Andriy Kotelnik; Paul Malignaggi; Marcos Maidana; Zab Judah; Julio Diaz; Luis Collazo; Devon Alexander; and Chris Algieri.
His fight against Terence Crawford will be the thirteenth world champion that he’s faced throughout the entirety of his career. This will be the second member of the mythical top-ten pound-for-pound elite that he’s shared the ring with. This will also be his eleventh world title fight.
Terence Crawford hasn’t faced anybody possessing that sort of resume!
