Gents, If you DON'T think that is a sexual assault..,
Just imagine a gay man - with the size and presence of Pulev - deciding YOUR lips were so kissable he just couldn't help himself.
Would you think that was acceptable at work ?
I'm not sure that is a reasonable analogy. I've nothing against homosexuals - whatever floats your boat and all that, but for me to feel as repulsed by an unsolicited kiss on the lips by a tall, sweaty, half naked, thirty something female athlete, as I would by the idea of being similar treated by Kubrat Pulev ... well she'd have to be something special and not in a good way

Sorry Kubrat, I'd probably feel differently if I were a woman. He shouldn't have done what he did and I wouldn't have been happy had it been one of my daughters, but nobody died and it's important to keep a little perspective.

There’s not the same implied threat if a woman did the same thing to a man though, is there.

Context is everything here. If the two are actually friends as pulev says, it’ll make the metoo brigade look kind of silly. If not, it’s hardly the sort of behaviour that should be regarded as normal and acceptable.

I agree that there can be a significant implied threat in this kind of assault by a male on a female but I think that factor can be discounted in such a very public occasion in front of all the cameras.

The lady certainly had a right to feel violated, but I doubt she would have felt intimidated or threatened.

What a strange environment to be in where people watching are more offended than the actual people involved. Can internet people sue for merely getting upset in the future? Don't count on it.

Just read that the girl has actually commented on it and regarded it as weird.

In this context pulev was out of line. I’m no fan of political correctness but you can’t just randomly go round kissing women on the lips when it’s pretty clearly an inappropriate setting for it.

When it comes to political correctness in general, I can see your point. Social justice warriors, activists, academic liberals and millennials are all far too easily offended for others so-called “plights”.

And their voices are nearly always heard above all others. It’s a sad case of the tail wagging the dog sometimes, with their minority opinions often resulting in new legislation or new social rules that override the thoughts of the mainstream masses.

However, the thing is, we don’t know if Jenny Sushe was offended, due to the environment in which the incident took place, she could have been hiding her feelings... and I wouldn't have blamed her if she did. We do know that she was shocked and uncomfortable though, by describing the kiss as “embarrassing” and “strange”. Her instant reaction was to shout “Jesus Christ!”

Anyway, it’s more about Pulev doing something deeply inappropriate to a person he didn't really know, without her consent, which was something she was unable to prevent.

Personally-speaking, I try to show empathy by imagining how I’d react if I saw this happen to a female I was close to (i.e. daughter, sister, wife etc.), with the incident occurring in their workplace and I was standing in close proximity.

Yeah, it's about as weird as kids discovering things among themselves. Barely worth mentioning outside one's circles.

Kids don’t ‘discover’ things in an adult work environment though.

I usually don’t give much credit to extreme left types moaning about things like this but I don’t believe the antidote to them is excusing behaviour when it does actually cross the line.

There was another incident where Katy Perry kissed some young man on the lips and he was made to look uncomfortable and I don't know if she apologized but she was criticized for it. Just because one man wouldn't reel away from her doesn't mean that another man wouldn't.

It's "bad form" but relatively benign in the grand scheme. First world citizens are so privileged it seems so few are mentally prepared for any sort of strife. Just imagine today's society coping with simple starvation. They wouldn't know what hit em, much less knowing how to persevere.

I don’t believe anybody is emotionally traumatised by Pulev’s actions. My interpretation of the general sentiments is that most people believe he’s done something inappropriate.

Perhaps the incident has received far too much attention from the media, but that’s how things are nowadays. People are more interested in celebrity scandal rather than real-world events that directly affect their day-to-day lives, such as politics and economics.

If she don't like it and feels offended she can sue him, if she has no problem with this situation then there is no need to condemn Pulev

She doesn't have to just sue him.

She could file a police report about the incident. I think a forceful kiss on the mouth constitutes a sexual battery.

It was demeaning to the woman. Pulev treated her as an object and displayed absolutely no respect for her as a professional reporter doing a job.

Here comes the american #metoo Gillette leg shaving Converse shoe wearing soyboy crowd!

Good work brother Pulev, you've instantaneously become one of the most famous heavyweights in the world! Go Bulgaria!

He was a friend of the reporter. She attended his post fight party.

If these girly boys had their way any time a guy impetuously kissed a girl he'd be sentenced to 40 years unless he had her notarized authorization countersigned by all 45 different American genders on the Board of Aproval!

It's not the 1950s anymore.

A guy doesn't get physically personal with a woman unless he has her approval.

Otherwise you come off looking like a clueless cretin who is unaware that not only have times changed, but that displays like that indicate a lack of respect and ignorance of boundaries.

This really isn’t that big of a deal - I get that.
He should just apologise, “I’m really sorry - I was pumped after the fight and I was a bit of a crass dickhead”
He’d actually come out looking better than if he’d not done it in the first place. We’d all move on to the next news story..

BUT
Your point there is a bit of a logic-fail.
If this woman and Pulev are crackling with sexual tension for each other - then great. They’re adding to the sum total of human flourishing. it’s only a problem for KP and his wife !

If not - it’s an unwelcome sexual advance from someone with way more power than yourself. That’s why I said Pulev on you. The fact that it would be a gay kiss - and you’re straight - highlights the fact that you REALLY don’t want it.. The fact that it’s Pulev is a famous top 10 HW fighter, highlights that you can’t do F-all about it. It would be unpleasant and scary and you’d just have to try and laugh it off.

That’s the sort of sh1t women have to put up with all the time - and it’s wrong.

I enjoy Filet mignon and also munching on McDonald's Big Mac burgers. I also enjoy staying over at five-star hotels, as well as sleeping in tents pitched in campsites. I enjoy driving expensive cars and also going on bike rides. I enjoy drinking champagne and also supping ice-cold beers on a red-hot sunny day.

Who said anything about a “downgrade”? Two ends of the spectrum can be equally enjoyable under the right circumstances!

Famous 1945 photo of sailor impetuously kissing a girl in a nurse's uniform in Times Square. He didn't even know her. He didn't have a signed countersigned and notarized consent form either.
Times have changed and so have laws.
If the guy was black the law would have been enforced.
