Just awful. Akay & Mark Prince both.knockout wrote:yes. terrible for a father to have to go to his sons funeral...E wrote:Isn't Tee Jay Isola Akay's (of All Stars gym) son?
I never knew Tee Jay but whenever I was at the All Stars on the Harrow Road and saw him there, he was always friendly & welcoming and loved to chat about his career. Akay made the All Stars the place it is today - a friendly vibrant gym, and Tee Jay was larger than life.
RIP champ. Condolences to Akay & family.
I'm part of the family and thank you all for you comments above. Tee Jay looked after himself and trained on a regular basis but unfortunately he died of a heart attack on Friday and we are all very much in shock.
We are trying to organise the service and burial asap, within Muslim tradition it should be withing a few days.
Isola Akay is planning a tribute at the All Stars gym as many wish to pay tribute. I will put a post up when the date is set.
Many thanks to all those who have been phoning over the last few days, you kind words are appreciated.

A tribute's a great idea, as that's where Tee Jay started. If you get any info, let us know. I'll be up for atending definately, as will others on here for sure.maverick wrote:I'm part of the family and thank you all for you comments above. Sat 27th May 2006
Funeral of Tee Jay Akay
11.30am – 12.30pm Regents Park Mosque, London
12.30pm – 1.30pm Prayers.
We then drive to Greenford cemetery for the burial.
Thereafter a reception will be held at the All Stars Boxing Gym
576, Harrow Road, London W10 4RH
As this is all happening so fast and many people have expressed that they would like to have some kind of remembrance for Tee Jay we have decided the following:
On 16th July 2006 between 2pm – 5pm
A Tribute to a Champion will be held at
All Stars Boxing Gym.
I will post details on this forum.
Thank you all for your kind words.

Hope everything went well on Saturday and that there was a good turn-out for Tee-Jay's funeral. The tribute should be a well-attended event.
