Yarde's a talented boxer, great power looks like he could go to the top potentially but his career has been a bit of a joke, if Warren had just kept him ploughing away building up his experience on undercards instead of headlining cards with British/Commonwealth title fights playing second fiddle then i'd be quite happy enough with that, i'd still be frustrated with the lack of opposition, Sjekloca and Averlant were decent but everything else has been woeful, especially the last 2 opponents

Not to mention they've banging on about this WBO ranking for what seems most of Yarde's career, its a bit of a joke really, I'm just glad someone like Josh Taylor never signed with Frank

Fair enough if Yarde does suddenly take the Kovalev fight kudos but if he's stopped in brutal fashion then you'd have to think WTF have they done with the lads career, Warren's an experienced cat so surely he knows what he's doing to Yarde here, in saying all that Warren's been brave with Dubois so I imagine the blame lies with Tunde

Good post.

I imagine the thinking of his camp is, possibly they're getting Kovalev at the right time, obviously it's a gamble. Home advantage would be, well, a hell of an advantage. By the sounds of it, home advantage is going to cost a lot of money and if it goes wrong, you've lost the money and your fighter has lost the title challenge. I do think Yarde needs more experience.

Tunde defintely likes being in front of the camera .... whether that is effecting his management Of Yarde or not, people can draw their own conclusion.

Yarde is a very likeable , friendly and talented guy and I would love to see him win a world title.

However the LHW division is pretty stacked so no soft touch WBO title shot for Yarde and even a British title fight is difficult because Buatsi is a great talent too.

They will need to take a risk at some point, a loss doesn’t mean the end of the career. Sometimes a loss makes you a better fighter, as we have seen countless times before !

Start with this fight WILL NOT HAPPEN , i repeat will not happen , considering how he's been brought along , the blame lies with Warren , This Tunde character obviously likes to think he's the bee's knee's , he likes to strut in front of the cameras and call themselves thje A side ... BUT has his promoter Warren has allowed it , and lets have it right its more bad luck than anything else , The bad luck being that division actually has some good fighters in it , so in typical Warren style they avoid them , its not new its what Warren has done for years and years . Unfortunatly for Yarde he has been made mandatory so in effect hadf his bluff called , Otherwise Warren would be happy to keep him the way he is for another couple of years , till a title is vacant , then pull strings to get an easy fight for the title , and defend against no bodies , ala BJS and others ,

Tunde is being embarrassed now. But this is what happens when you go down the WBO route and find yourself in the mandatory position, having beaten nobody at world level, when you're clearly not ready.

Guessing Frank's reasoning here is the fight is not going the distance wherever it is held and if the terms are as good as one would assume they are, then why not go to Russia.

If Yarde pulls it off, his credibility will go through the roof, not only by beating Kovalev but away from home. It would make the first defence a much more sellable product for Wazza and his team, plus you would have to assume they would have any obvious rematch should Yarde win pencilled in for the UK, unless Klimas and his team pay Yarde crazy money to go back to Russia.

Looking forward to this one.

Yarde won't fight Kovalev. This would be the ideal time to get him as well but they probably don't have the bottle, his career would sky rocket if he managed a win over Kov but again, it probably won't happen.

His next fight will be against a Lithuanian plumber no doubt

Oh man thats definteley the russians mistake i hope he doesnt get hurt the same way the Colombian did his ass because he wont win the second fight the exact same reason there never should have been 2 Andre ward fights :brick: should have just fought Stevenson, Karo, Cleverly again...... , mike lee or even Badou jack.

Your preference would've been a rematch with Clevery rather than a Ward rematch?

I know Yarde is not seasoned but Kov doesn't appear to be the man he was going into Ward I. I think this is a calculated risk but one that really could pay off.

Yarde takes right hands and that will be bad news...but I expect him to tighten up and be throwing enough to stop Kov taking liberties.

The timezone is more favourable for UK television than the US would be, that increases the chances it will be a BT PPV.

Yarde wouldn't get past the midway point of fight. He's got no chance here and they know it. Kovalev is too heavy handed and throws way more punches. Yarde isn't Andre Ward in the boxing department so he won't be able to outbox kovalev and he's not going to win a firefight either. They are completely swerving the fight. Let's remember, they wanted none of callum Johnson either. Called out buglioni because he was a limited easy touch but never once mentioned callum Johnsons name. There's only so long that fans and promoters put up with fighters ducking real opposition to fight cans.

I think he has a chance but would not be the favourite. It's wishful thinking of course...but this would be a very interesting fight for me. I don't think it's as one-sided as you do...but I could easily be wrong.

And likely on ESPN+ in the States.

Kovalev vs. Ward wasn’t even a PPV in the UK. Don’t see why this should be.

Warrington vs. Galahad deserves PPV more than this bout even though it actually doesn’t deserve it at all.
