A source stated GGG wanted to train closer to home, Santa Monica, so he might be based in the LA area, that’s why he wanted to leave Nig Bear.
Virgil Hunter?
Who else saw this coming? Abel wasn’t even at the GGG-Rolls pressers.
it was most defo money related - read something this morning : https://www.badlefthook.com/2019/4/24/1 ... money-daznRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑25 Apr 2019, 01:43 Golovkin has been done over in his career. It’s a bit late now but he’s finally taking control of it. Looks like he’s making decisions himself.

So Golovkin didn't grow up and understand the real world until he hit his mid 30s?boxing_rocks wrote: ↑24 Apr 2019, 22:52 Money is definitely a priority now. Having encountered the dirty Vegas business and having been robbed of his dreams, Golovkin became the same as most in the business.
Sounds eerily familiar with AJ trying to find a US HW to fight. DAZN isn't helping their cause if this is true. A good matchup would better serve DAZN's foray into America. Not that it will matter in the end.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑29 Apr 2019, 12:45 Golovkin, Loeffler Explain Picking Rolls As Opponent For June 8
Golovkin and Tom Loeffler, his promotional representative, explained Monday before a press conference at Madison Square Garden how they arrived at choosing Toronto’s Rolls, an unbeaten but unknown opponent.
“I’ll tell you, honestly, I didn’t know a lot about him,” Golovkin said through a translator. “But because DAZN is trying to establish themselves in Canada and Steve’s from Canada, I figured that this would be a good starting point for us.”
Golovkin passed on France’s N’Dam (37-3, 21 KOs) in favor of the 35-year-old Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs). Poland’s Szermeta (19-0, 4 KOs) didn’t reciprocate interest, according to Loeffler.
“I can shed some more light on the opponent process,” Loeffler said. “There were a lot of other names that were being considered. N’Dam was one of them. Sulecki we heard was available. But then, when I contacted his promoter directly, he wasn’t available for June 8th, only the end of June. The undefeated Polish guy, Szermeta, we offered him the fight last May. Then we offered [it to] him this time and he wasn’t interested. [Demetrius] Andrade has his mandatory obligation. So, for this fight here, for this homecoming to New York and to The Garden – and like Gennady said, out of the opponents being considered, DAZN liked that Rolls is from Canada and they can publicize that to their subscribers up there in Canada.”
Yeah. It does seem like DAZN have some sort of input. Seem to steer the direction of opponents.
I honestly hadn't heard of him before this announcement.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑29 Apr 2019, 13:54 Yeah. It does seem like DAZN have some sort of input. Seem to steer the direction of opponents.
Why not just have Canelo fight Lemieux nect at 160 or 168. That might help Canadian fan base.
How well is Rolls even known in Canada. Casuals? His neighbours? they might subscribe.
They won't say it. Most likely, Golovkin is pushing GGG Promotions fighters.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 May 2019, 18:46 Well, hopefully GGG tells us. Or some Kazakh paper.
C’mon GGG, ur supposed to be looking out for your countrymen.
This sort of 'waking up' isn't merely confined to boxing. Business and politics see this drama being enacted out every day.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑24 Apr 2019, 22:52 Money is definitely a priority now. I am an admitted Canelo hater.Thomastearns wrote: ↑27 May 2019, 06:23 This sort of 'waking up' isn't merely confined to boxing. Business and politics see this drama being enacted out every day.
Even if someone enters these fields with good and honest intentions, and yes there probably are some young, inexperienced, naive sheltered souls still out there, it's will be incredibly difficult for them to passively stand by and watch whilst others are filling their pockets by the hour by whatever means they can.
In Golovkin's case it seems as if his waking up occurred as a result of his belts being transferred to Canelo Alvarez in such shady circumstances. The world watched and saw one of its finest champions robbed of his hard won belts by a failed drug cheat. Many were outraged but nothing was done and this crooked business goes on as before.
You can imagine his shock and frustration, no doubt some of it aimed at Sanchez and Loeffler who did virtually nothing to counter the corruption in their wish to get paid. So it's understandable that he's "sold out" himself since martyrdom is an increasingly rare commodity in these times. It tends not to pay very well in an era of instant global communication where reputations can be tarnished or even destroyed in a manner of minutes.
Yet despite all this, even today there are some (albeit mostly Canelo fans) who still adhere to the notion that Boxing, the WBC, and Las Vegas are running a clean business. Even a few here on boxec! That's what you call naive!
Gennady Golovkin to his regret now knows better.
Basically the same here.tiny_acres wrote: ↑27 May 2019, 10:31 I am an admitted Canelo hater.
Don't like him or Golden boy promotions.
GGG won the first fight closely but convincingly.
The rematch was closely won by Canelo.
We don't have to like it. But it's reality
I read GGG didn’t like something Daniyar said about him so that’s why he’s been scrubbed from the show.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑26 May 2019, 21:31 They won't say it. Most likely, Golovkin is pushing GGG Promotions fighters.
Or if that is true at all. Dani is a boring boxer which could be a simple reason to not want him on a weak card.
