Williams is an elite fighter. Getting finished by one shot from Charlo doesnt change that fact.

As I expected. A horrible decision for Hurd to take this fight. I told you all what would happen. Stupid stupid stupid. And no one saw it or paid for it. They made shit for this fight and Hurd lost his belts as expected

A good fight happened and a good fighter won a belt. We don't need to try to run these guys' careers for them.

Very entertaining fight with the right fighter getting the decision. Much of the talk prior to the fight was the lack of defence by Hurd, and it was highlighted tonight. Great stoush.

What’s wrong with a boxer trying to test himself against the best on his division?

I’d rather he fought Williams than someone ranked in WBA’s top 10-15 ranked.

I have J-Rock winning it by 115-112, he really played well to Hurd's antics, working on his flaws and also showing flexibility in the mid-range

“I just feel like J-Rock truly was the better man tonight,” Hurd said. “I kind of think hearing my hometown with my name being chanted, it caused me to try a little harder instead of just staying relaxed and take my time. That could have played a part, but no excuses.”

“I wasn’t able to get off. I can’t really call it right now. I have to go back and watch. I was loading up on my shots instead of just letting my hands go,’’ Hurd said.

“J-Rock was just the better man tonight. There’s definitely a rematch clause in our contract and I’m going to go for it. I’m going to come back better than I was tonight.’’

Hurd isn’t one to complain. I think he was just really excited about fighting at home. I believe HE CAN win a rematch.

Believe it more than Vargas-Berchelt and Nava-Dog rematches.

Are you sure man? Hurd biggest strength is constant pressure and wearing down oponent. Williams handled it well tonight. I am big fan of Hurd but man he looked bad in this fight :( :(

Not super shocked, I was never that high in Hurd to be honest. He served the same fate as most fighters with his style. When you lack the basic fundamentals to the degree Hurd does, it just takes a hungry fighter like Williams who wasn't going to back down to dethrone you. Williams is twice the boxer Hurd is, he has so much more going for him. I don't enjoy Hurds. style at all.

Of course he should!
Those belts make it worthwhile.
This loss will show if he has what it takes to be a real Champ and come back swinging.
Even without any improvement on Hurd's part, I still give him a punchers chance.

Fair play to him. No excuses. People worry about losing the 0 too much these days.

I was a touch surprised when I read Hurd lost but the writing was on the wall in he's last defence the UK guy hit Hurd with plenty he was lucky he wasn't facing a genuine world class fighter then.

Surprising fight, surprising result.

Was a fun fight. Hurd got mullered even on the inside, and while I was expecting him to eventually land and game changer, it never came. Williams dug deep, kept in there and didn't let the bigger man bully him. Fair play!

I think everyone expected some awful scorecards. Thankfully it didn't happen.

Also nice and refreshing to see some humilty and graciousness in defeat by Hurd. He'll be back strong.

I'd still put Hurd as favourite if they were to rematch. Seems like he was missing a gear, where Williams fought the perfect fight, and would have to find that level everytime. You know that if he lapsed Hurd could probably land something significant and blast him out of there.
