If they really wanted, they could have found a way a year earlier. They just didn't like the opponent.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑04 Jun 2019, 14:35 By then they must have found a way?
Adama came before Murray.

Lots of shade being thrown at Abel Sanchez in this video.
I was a few blocks away from G's open workout at MSG yesterday but I had to make an appointment. I really wanted to call and cancel so I could see it. Oh well.
When is BoxRec going to change GGG's name to Gennadiy? He seems to have officially added the i now.

Golovkin's first name is Геннадий. Both Gennady and Gennadiy don't represent that exactly, so I don't know what was a point of that change. Maybe he just wanted his Kazakh and American passports match.JohnMcMinn wrote: ↑05 Jun 2019, 11:39 When is BoxRec going to change GGG's name to Gennadiy? He seems to have officially added the i now.

I'm not a linguist or anything, just seems like that's his preferred English transliteration now. Doesn't really matter that much in the long run.

I think the booky odds are a ridiculous 70-1 in favor of GGG.

I've seen plenty books pricing it at 100-1.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑05 Jun 2019, 15:05 I think the booky odds are a ridiculous 70-1 in favor of GGG.
Fury is only 50-1 over Schwarz a week later.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Fury-Schwarz odds go down even more. People are heavyweight upset-minded now.

I can't imagine the odds increasing on Fury. No value in a 50-1 favorite.

To anyone who follows boxing or has seen him fight, no he's never been out of the top names at middleweight, for the person who doesn't follow the sport or has just gotten into it and sees him coming off a loss or even anyone who wants to say "he's finished at world level" .
This is a fight to prove he's far from done.

For any “person who doesn't follow the sport or has just gotten into it and sees” this as a competitive fight, by regarding Steve Rolls as a decent opponent, they’re wrong. It’s a mismatch!northern wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 06:49 To anyone who follows boxing or has seen him fight, no he's never been out of the top names at middleweight, for the person who doesn't follow the sport or has just gotten into it and sees him coming off a loss or even anyone who wants to say "he's finished at world level" .

Rolls is 19-0 with 10 KO's but he's fought nobodies from fat city. The last guy he fought was ranked #164 in the world, the guy before #265. He went the distance with both of them. This is a ridiculous mismatch with a guy with an inflated record.

I agree that it definitely looks like a mismatch. Rolls did spar with Adonis, BJS and Lemieux, so he is likely not a club fighter and there is a slight possibility of a surprise.

he looks better then shojohan ergashev, who was my favorite uzbek prospect but then looked pretty dumpy last fight
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls - June 8, 2019
Golovkin is all the way down to 25-1 now in some spots. 2 weeks ago this fight would've closed at -10,000. Its just proof that many bettors are idiots that can be manipulated. The next big fight that happens after what is perceived as a huge upset when a fat short guy knocks out a guy who looks like Adonis and this is the reactionary BS you get. The comeback on Rolls is "+1450. There's no way in hell Rolls has a 1 in 14 chance of beating GGG. His only path to victory is disqualification. Andy Ruiz is at least a world class fighter who has shown he can compete at the top level. And Joshua has shown a suspect chin. The ingredients were there for a possible shock in retrospect. GGG has shown no such chin issues and Rolls has never fought anywhere even remotely close to this level.
