The problem with the book (or rather, one of its many problems) is that it is so bitter sweet. It is inadvertently funny throughout (e.g. page 159 where he attacks well-known historian David Hasselhoff's position on slavery). But the more I read back over it, the more it is just really sad that Taylor should be in this position.

Ok, just some random sections. I promise I am not making it sound worse than it is or intentionally typing it badly, this is verbatim (exactly as it is in the book, word for word).

From the opening section (!):

Is every single person in Meldrick's circle of friends and family completely illiterate? I'd love to know how on earth this pile of shite made it through proof reading! It's like it's been written by a computer program that has then translated it into mandarin and then back into English. Truly bizzare.
