Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - August 2019?
The light heavyweight title bout between Sergey Kovalev and Anthony Yarde will not take place June 29.
Multiple sources informed BS.com on Thursday that the Russian investors providing funding to bring Kovalev-Yarde to Kovalev’s home country would prefer to stage the fight sometime in August. They still want to bring the bout to the 8,000-seat arena in Kovalev’s hometown of Chelyabinsk, Russia.
That’ll depend on allegedly, Yarde’s promoter, and England’s Yarde again agreeing to travel to Russia for Yarde’s mandated shot at Kovalev’s WBO 175-pound championship. Warren could force a purse bid, a procedure they avoided at the 11th hour when they agreed to terms for a June 29 bout.
Warren recently offered to add Kovalev-Yarde to the July 13 card his company will stage at O2 Arena in London, but Kovalev did not want to fight Yarde in the challenger’s home country. That July 13 show will feature heavyweights Daniel Dubois and Nathan Gorman in the main event, as well as heavyweight Joe Joyce.
Yarde has accepted what would be a career-high, seven-figure purse to travel to Russia to challenge Kovalev. Both Kovalev, 36, and Yarde, 27, have been training to fight June 29, but the card they were supposed to headline never was officially announced.
The uncertainty prompted Warren to publicly question in recent weeks whether the fight would come off June 29.
Whenever Kovalev and Yarde meet, ESPN will stream their scheduled 12-round fight in the United States through its ESPN+ service and BT Sport will offer it in the United Kingdom. ESPN has options on Kovalev as part of the deal promoter Bob Arum made with Kovalev and his promoter, Kathy Duva, to stream his immediate rematch with Eleider Alvarez.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - August 2019?
Apparently Kovalev’s trial starts on 1st August.
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - August 2019?
Is that true?
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - August 2019?
Man, this whole thing is a cluster.
So now the WBO are setting an emergency purse bid.
Like they think they can get it sorted. Poor old Kwusher is probably going to end up getting stripped, and I doubt if he had anything to do with it.

The Puerto Rico-based sanctioning body has taken matters into its own hands, calling for an emergency purse bid hearing to establish a lead promoter and a date for the overdue title fight. The session will take place Tuesday, June 11 in the lobby of Hilton New York JFK Airport Hotel in Jamaica (Queens), New York.
“With the uncertainty of the fight, a purse bid was necessary,” Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel, president of the WBO told BS.com.

I agree....can see hmm being stripped hence FW not seeming to be to bothered.
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - August 2019?
So Kov gets stripped and Yarde has home advantage for a vacant belt against a late replacement.
FWank is a genius.., Allegedly.

Not the biggest surprise of the year if Fwank steers Yarde into a vacant/interim WBO title fight. It's his speciality. Wonder if Kov gives a monkies, wave goodbye to the belt but join the mooted WBSS tournament ?

If Kovalev gets convicted of battering a woman then he's (rightly) looking at jail time and being stripped by the WBO. I don't think FW has engineered that.

Latest news on Kov's legal issues from Boxing 'Seen' .com
Also hanging in the balance is a current court case for Kovalev, who is due to stand trial on charges of felony assault stemming from an incident last June in Big Bear, Calif. The boxer was formally charged with felony assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury and freed on $50,000 bond after entering a Not Guilty plea.
He did as much during the arraignment hearing this past April, with the light heavyweight titlist due to stand trial on August 1 in San Bernardino County (Calif.) Superior Court. It is hoped that he is able to get through his in-ring fight before advancing to his legal battle, or so hopes his opponent in waiting.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - August 2019?
For the fourth time the WBO has postponed the purse bid for the fight between light heavyweight world titlist Sergey Kovalev and mandatory challenger Anthony Yarde. First it was April 8, then April 15, then June 11 and now June 24, when it is slated to take place at the WBO offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Minimum bid is $300,000. Kovalev promoter Main Events and Yarde promoter allegedly had made a deal but it was contingent on a Russian promoter putting up money to bring the fight to Chelyabinsk, Russia, where Kovalev grew up. But that promoter backed out, leaving the fight, which was initially supposed to take place in June, in limbo.

Hosea Burton: Wouldn't Be a Surprise if Yarde Ducks Kovalev!
Hosea Burton has spent the better part of the spring in Las Vegas as he prepares for his return to the ring. The 30-year-old Manchester resident has won 5 fights in a row since suffering his only career loss against Frank Buglioni.
He will be fighting a tune up fight on July 5th and then after that he would like a shot at any of the top light heavyweights in the world.
"At the moment it is a red hot division. There are a lot of good champions. I am 23-1 and ready for a good opportunity with one of them so if any of you champions want to have a go, I am 23-1 and I can fight," Burton stated.
Burton is not impressed at all with what he has seen from Yarde who is 18-0 with 17 knockouts. He believes that Yarde's record is largely manufactured and claims that he isn't willing to fight anyone who remotely presents a challenge.
"I have wanted to fight Anthony Yarde for a fair few months now but they won't take it back home. I personally think Kovalev is too good for him and Yarde hasn't had a proper challenge yet. I think Kovalev just knows too much. It depends what Kovalev is though. I have heard a few rumors about Kovalev which I hope aren't true but 50% of Kovalev still beats Yarde," said Burton.
Burton, who is a cousin of lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, also said that it is possible that Kovalev-Yarde never happens. He believes there is a good chance that Yarde backs out completely and goes a different direction.
"He skipped domestic level back home. He wouldn't fight anybody with a pulse. He has only fought a load of has beens and never has beens. He has done a job on them and knocked them out and looked good doing it. I think he's gotten the chance because he has the six pack and he looks like a good boxer but he came over here last time Tyson fought (against Deontay Wilder) and he turned down 6 different opponents. allegedly has invested a lot of money in him so he wants to get his money back. It wouldn't surprise me if that fight never came off," said Burton.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - September 2019?
allegedly walked away from his meeting with Kathy Duva over the weekend confident that Anthony Yarde’s mandated shot at Sergey Kovalev will be announced soon.
“It’s not our fault it didn’t happen,” Warren told BS.com. “So, we had a meeting over the weekend here, and hopefully we’ll be in a position next week to announce it. We signed for it once already.”
The Russian investors providing funding to bring Kovalev-Yarde to Kovalev’s home country have assured Duva that the fight will be staged sometime in September. Kovalev, 36, and Yarde, 27, had been training to fight June 29, but Yarde, the mandatory challenger for Kovalev’s title, will have to wait a little longer for his career-high purse and title shot.
“It says a lot about my guy that he’s willing to go there,” Warren said. “I mean, if it does happen, it’ll be in the other guy’s backyard. But a few things have got to happen before it’s announced. But we want it. We want it to happen.”

It's just not very wise. Historically it reminds me a lot of Jason Matthews and Mark Prince. Real bangers at domestic level but horribly exposed at world level. Their careers came to an abrupt end.

Yeah DM really tore Prince a new one and that finished him.. listening to his manager/trainer I’m also not holding much hope for longevity in him. EXCLUSIVE: Kovalev v Yarde clash AGREED
In a fresh update on the current situation at light-heavyweight, WBN has been informed contract loose ends have been tied up for Sergey Kovalev v Anthony Yarde.
The WBO mandatory bout is expected to take place in Russia. The agreement means a looming purse bid can be avoided.
Speaking exclusively to World Boxing News, Kovalev’s promoter Kathy Duva revealed the latest on the stalling encounter.
“The Yarde negotiations are moving forward between the promoter in Russia, RCC, and Queensberry – who represents Yarde,” Duva told WBN.
“I heard from both sides yesterday that they have come to terms on all of the contract provisions.”
Kovalev must go through with the stipulated fight with Yarde in order to adhere to the WBO’s wishes.
The big-punching Russian will be a heavy favorite to prevail, especially on home soil.

A lot of talk about Canelo v Kovalev as well.
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - September 2019?
I wish this fight would just happen.
Surely it can't be that hard ?
It's a really sellable match between an unproved young pretender and wily old champ - who doesn't want to see this ?
