Joshua was using his jab, watch the first round, but Ruiz was very comfortable counterpunching him with his speed and creativity, look at the 21 second in the first round, Joshua landed a left hook and Andy countered that action with a good combination.

All three cards were within reason, given four close rounds.

You can try as hard as you like, the cards were not controversial. TFKoB wasn’t taking any chances though.

the chin is good, but i mean he did get put on his ass with like the first notable power shot aj landed. its not at the wach/provo/mccall/chuvalo freak level where they just eat huge shots and dont even go down.....i wonder what allows those types of guys to basically just absorb everything w/o going down

It wasn’t the first shot. It was a combo.

Certain dudes are wired that way. Shots to the head do not short circuit their legs.

That is what was interesting. TFKoB went down hard but he never seemed disoriented. He had enough wits to stay on a knee and once up he showed no wobble and took an even harder shot on the button. He was positively spry after knocked down AJ.

I suspect Joshua's recklessness was fueled by a desire to produce a spectacular win, like Deontay had just done. Not a good plan as it turned out. (no sh1t Sherlock )

I agree.

If AJ would have been more cautious he would have come out of round 3 with a 30-26 lead, on all cards. Turned out that TFKoB was the one who took his time, minimized risk, chopped his opponent’s trunk, and dropped him cleanly.

TFKoB was superior on all levels that night.
