Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
Joshua was using his jab, watch the first round, but Ruiz was very comfortable counterpunching him with his speed and creativity, look at the 21 second in the first round, Joshua landed a left hook and Andy countered that action with a good combination.

It was a beauty performance by Andy.

Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
Joshua lost clearly the first round, he only landed one hard jab but nothing more.

Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
of course, Ruiz has good skills, he won fair and square, he won by his skills, but not only by that - Joshua made a big mistake after knocking Ruiz down, it has influenced the outcome of this fight a lot.
Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
That was Ruiz merit, not only a mistake of Joshua.dagilechia wrote: ↑09 Jun 2019, 23:57 of course, Ruiz has good skills, he won fair and square, he won by his skills, but not only by that - Joshua made a big mistake after knocking Ruiz down, it has influenced the outcome of this fight a lot.

Another fact:
JOSHUA THROWN 47 JABS IN THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS.
And people is saying "he needs to throw jabs in the rematch".
He did it, and he thrown a lot of jabs, almost 50 in the first two rounds...

Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
he won the first 2 rounds on all cards, in terms of winning that actually supports there point
Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
josh was down on the cards
Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
its all around, just do a quick google, boxrec has the cards too
57-56 ruiz x2
then the same card once for aj

Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
I thought Ruiz won the first round but the judges thought differently.
2nd and 5th I had for Joshua.
1st, 3rd and 6th for Ruiz.
4th was difficult to call, could have went either way.

1, 2, 4, and 5 were all close.
I had it 58-55 TFKoB, real-time.
TFKoB - 2, 3 (10-8), 4 and 6.
AJ - 1 and 5.
All three cards were within reason, given four close rounds.

Joshua gets the slow rounds by default whether or not he actually won them.
Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
He was down on 2 of 3 cards going into the 7th. If he had survived rd 7 he would have been down by at minimum 4, 4 and 2 points going into 8.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑10 Jun 2019, 07:46 Joshua gets the slow rounds by default whether or not he actually won them.
You can try as hard as you like, the cards were not controversial. TFKoB wasn’t taking any chances though.

Ruiz reminds me of those rare specimens that once they get knocked down they seem to be able to thrive on adrenaline and pain.
Ruiz might not only have the fastest hands in the division but also the best chin. That right hand he took straight after the knockdown might have slept most of the top 10.
His only obvious weakness is his rather limited footwork. Holyfield danced around Douglas to expose him, Joshua will now have to do the same to Ruiz, and he will.

Yeah he threw his jabs, but he suddenly looked frail. Ruiz bulled right through him with his punching flurries.

Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
the chin is good, but i mean he did get put on his ass with like the first notable power shot aj landed. its not at the wach/provo/mccall/chuvalo freak level where they just eat huge shots and dont even go down.....i wonder what allows those types of guys to basically just absorb everything w/o going down
Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
It wasn’t the first shot. It was a combo.jamamb wrote: ↑11 Jun 2019, 01:08 the chin is good, but i mean he did get put on his ass with like the first notable power shot aj landed. its not at the wach/provo/mccall/chuvalo freak level where they just eat huge shots and dont even go down.....i wonder what allows those types of guys to basically just absorb everything w/o going down
Certain dudes are wired that way. Shots to the head do not short circuit their legs.
That is what was interesting. TFKoB went down hard but he never seemed disoriented. He had enough wits to stay on a knee and once up he showed no wobble and took an even harder shot on the button. He was positively spry after knocked down AJ.
Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
Great performance by Andy who really showed what he's about, but if Joshua had not decided to try and finish him after putting him down, and instead continued to use his physical advantages and await opportunities to repeat the kind of combos that put Ruiz down, generally taking rounds to soften him up, I wonder how it might have played out.
I suspect Joshua's recklessness was fueled by a desire to produce a spectacular win, like Deontay had just done. Not a good plan as it turned out. (no sh1t Sherlock

If AJ would have been more cautious he would have come out of round 3 with a 30-26 lead, on all cards. Turned out that TFKoB was the one who took his time, minimized risk, chopped his opponent’s trunk, and dropped him cleanly.
TFKoB was superior on all levels that night.
Re: Andy Ruiz Jr won the fight against Joshua by skills
indeed, he's just not very good at jabbing, and his arm tires fast. By r5 his jab was just a tired paw.

Great story in The Guardian. Robles gives the magnitude of the victory perspective. He also sheds light on AJ, who is an excellent, humble person.“I knew we had made history,” Robles says. “Andy had become the first Mexican heavyweight champion of the world. But now I think everybody, of all ethnicities and backgrounds, from all over the world, won. We identify more with Andy – although Joshua’s a great guy and an unbelievable athlete.
