Billy Joe Saunders reportedly approved for Canelo Alvarez’s next fight!

Post by Enlightened-One »

"Billy Joe Saunders reportedly approved for Canelo Alvarez’s next fight as one of three new possible opponents"

Billy Joe Saunders has joined the list of potential opponents for Canelo Alvarez’s next fight after US broadcaster DAZN approved him, according to reports.

It is well known that Canelo is currently on the hunt for his second bout of the year, but needs the go-ahead from DAZN – who are paying him mega money and expect top opposition – before his promoters Golden Boy can make serious progress in negotiations.

It’s claimed by Mike Coppinger that Billy Joe Saunders, Demetrius Andrade and Jermall Charlo have also been approved by DAZN and added to the list of potential foes.

This opens up multiple new doors for Golden Boy as they look to finally nail down an opponent.

Britain’s Saunders entered the fray after signing with promoter Eddie Hearn, Sky Sports and DAZN earlier this week.

It seemed unlikely he would get the call to face Canelo next, however this may now change.

Hearn also promotes Andrade and revealed to reporters that he’d in fact agreed a deal for the American to face the 29-year-old superstar next.

However, the promoter claims Canelo is currently waiting to see if Kovalev comes through against Yarde next weekend and could still pursue the Russian for a fight at the end of 2019.

Thoughts? :-?

If I’m not mistaken, fielding and Jacobs were Hearn boxers?

They work with the same platform and have worked together this year already several times.

Think Oscar should be more worried about Canelo being unhappy at GB over contract issue last week.

Hasn't Oscar been arguing with Hearn for the past few months

Charlo is the WBC champion and also a PBC/Showtime/Fox fighter.

He won’t be ranked by the other governing bodies either. So he can’t force fights against the other big names in the division, such as Canelo, Golovkin, Jacobs, Andrade & Saunders, which are all aligned with GBP/Matchroom/DAZN.

The only reason why Al Haymon fighters, such as Maciej Sulecki and Sergiy Derevyanchenko, managed to face Matchroom/DAZN opposition, was because they were considered beatable underdogs that forced their way into those bouts by becoming mandatory challengers.

Jermall Charlo used to be Canelo and Golovkin’s long-time mandatory challenger, but neither of them were willing to take the fight.

Billy Joe raises his game according to the level of opposition he faces. His pugilistic fighting style is also very problematic for Canelo.

The Mexican is probably capable of beating Saunders, but I don't think it'll be an "easy job".

If he stays on his feet, they will give it to alvarez, no matter what, no matter how.

Saunders wins 8 rounds crystal clear, W goes to canelo. Split Decision.

He is under a wrong "adviser"/promoter, plus he was beaten by Korobov.
