It's starting to remind me of Mark De Mori, the Aussie who lost spectacularly badly against a shot David Haye. Learned all his skills watching fighters on tv.

Салават Юлаев is the street and not the hotel I believe...there are about 10 hotels on this street..do you know which one?MightyWarrior wrote: ↑19 Aug 2019, 15:30 Yep looks like he’s just arrived at his hotel Салавата Юлаева Chelyabinsk, Russia.

I can't see Yarde doing this. I think he has some potential and he has done well considering his lack of experience, but he is far from being a well schooled fighter - Kovalev is the exact opposite.
I agree about Yarde's camp as well, the first time I saw it I wondered what the fk was going on.

Apparently he’s landed and the airline have lost his luggage. Bloody shenanigans have started already.

I can tell you something for sure. A lot of money is coming in on Yarde here. When a ton of money poured in for Allen over Price, that saved me from lumping on Allen in the end. This annoying price shortening thing may do the same thing for Yarde. Yarde in the first 6 rounds was 7/1 before, now worse than 5/1.

Should have flew in on an old cargo plane like Rocky with hand luggage only ...
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
Kovalev looks a very generous price for me at 8/13. Who has Yarde beaten to remotely suggest he can go to Russia and pull off the win against a top 20 pound for pounder? The only worry for me would be if Kovalev is taking him a bit lightly. Yarde has at best a punchers chance but I can see this being a bit of a demolition job by Kovalev, much like he did against Pascal.
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
Yardes unorthodox training has always been the worry ! Absolutely no higher level sparring whatsoever.
Yes he is an amazing athlete and a super nice guy, but surely going against boxing convention that you need challenging world class sparring to give yourself the necessary skill set to become world Champion is a HUGE risk.

Money coming for Yarde. Kovalev Now 8/13 in betting. BN tipping Kovalev but they’ve got a load of big fight previews wrong this summer.

Is that true, no real sparring at all ? It seems so bizarre I was thinking it might just be for the cameras.knockout wrote: ↑20 Aug 2019, 15:39 Yardes unorthodox training has always been the worry ! Absolutely no higher level sparring whatsoever.

Unless he is a genuinely big puncher ( not sure about that yet ) and gets out of jail that way, it takes a leap of faith to see him winning this.

Don't be foolish enough to think Yarde doesn't spar - his team (like most teams) only show what they want !
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
MW : Sparring yes / hard competitive sparring , no.
Kback : I wasn’t basing my comment on what comes out on social media (although that does support my comments). The London boxing scene is a fairly small “community” and you tend to hear what’s going on.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
I think his strengths are really well matched to exploit Kov's weaknesses. Big power vs shaky chin, he has shots from all ranges and can hurt somewhat fragile Sergey at any distance (Serg can't do much inside though) and he's strong inside and bangs that body, where Kov is also vulnerable and where it can activate Kov's gas tank issues. Yarde is the much fresher man too, ya he's green, but that also means way less miles on the clock and he's a decade younger.
To me it comes down to Yarde's chin, if he's got one he'll do it and can get the KO early or later. If he can't hold a shot, then it's first to land. And with all guys who do shoulder rolls, he better not clown around with it and get careless. It's possible that having not fought at this level that he could underestimate the difference in danger in doing that vs Kov vs his prior opponents.
