I do love how cool-calm and collected Yarde is. In Russia, which can be hard enough. Bags mysteriously went missing. Conspiracy theories galore and yet he's seems so so calm and ready, I now give him a much better chance than when the fight was announced

God loves a trier! But seriously, surely this will end up being one of Kovalev's easiest fights. He must have forgetten more than Yarde will ever know.

Anthony looks ice cool, I doubt he’s going to get overwhelmed by nerves come the first bell, he’s a true believer ( for now ).
He’s definitely got to be looking to land a BIG punch on the Russian early, to get Kov to respect him ASAP, then Kov might slow down after 4/5 rounds...As long as he doesn’t get beaten up early, I think Anthony is going to have the fresher legs..

Can’t wait for this, the most fascinating fight for some time, for me.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Aug 2019, 07:35 Anthony looks ice cool, I doubt he’s going to get overwhelmed by nerves come the first bell, he’s a true believer ( for now ).

Money still pouring in on Yarde. He’s widely 6/4 now! That’s an insane shift.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
I disagree somewhat. Kov is experienced down the stretch and knows how to pace the 12 rounds, Yarde doesn't, fighting 12 rounds is all about not punching yourself out (which is why it's good to test your 12 round stamina/gain that experience vs lesser opponents). Yarde could be completely fvcked by the 10thMightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Aug 2019, 07:35 Anthony looks ice cool, I doubt he’s going to get overwhelmed by nerves come the first bell, he’s a true believer ( for now ).

Surely Yarde can’t even last into the 2nd half.

22 pages of discussion even before the day of the bout, shows a lot of interest in this fight! Good time in the evening for UK fight fans too, looking forward to it. I'm backing a points win/late stoppage for Kovalev after a disciplined performance behind the jab & straight right hand

Rumour has it there is more than one feline animal in close proximity, or possibly even situated within, the facilities housing the training routine of Yarde in the buildup to this fight. Can anyone confirm what the situation is?

Angie Dundee, Eddie Futch. Ray Arcel, Manny Stewart, Cus D'Amato, Gil Clancy, Jack Blackburn, Nacho Beristain, Charley Goldman and Freddie Brown all encouraged sparring. I guess they were all wrong.

He’s not the first wacky out there eccentric trainer to cause the boxing Intelligentsia to roll their eyes with his unorthodox methods. Case in point, Brendan Ingle.

Look up pictures from past weigh ins, he always looks like that. No different from last fight where he schooled Alvarez.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
Guaranteed IF and that's the biggest IF i'm gonna throw out there, IF Yarde does win the WBO belt..
He's gonna spend 5 years making 2-3 defences in the UK. There will be no talk of unification.
Unless he's get's a hard/decent mando, he'll fight WBO top 10-15 ranked boxers.
This is the current rankings:
1. Anthony Yarde
2. Gilberto Ramirez
3. Dominic Boesel
4. Umar Salamov
5. Jesse Hart
6. Maxim Vlasov
7. Robert Parzeczewski
8. Eleider Alvarez
9. Emil Markic
10. Blake Caparello
11. Lenin Castillo
12. Steve Ward
13. Fanlong Meng
14. Joshua Buatsi
15. Alfonso Lopez
--------
Ramirez moved up to possibly challenge Kovalev.

Think Kovalev is gonna stop Yarde fairly early. Wouldn't be surprised if Yarde don't see the 5th round

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
It would be interesting to hear Joshua Buatsi makes of this premature title shot. There's a proper fighter, with real amateur grounding and who is going up the levels in sensible fashion. I think he would butcher Yarde in the next 6 to 9 months if Yarde went back to domestic level with his tail between his legs.

I've been impressed how Yarde has carried himself this week, looks comfortable on the big stage and sure of himself, I love Kovalev but would love to see Yarde knock him out and muscle in on the already banging 175 division

Nice timing, get home from the football with a curry ready for it. I'm a bit fed up with main events starting after 11pm

Yes, but did Ingle say he was the best sparring partner in the world?MightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Aug 2019, 13:15 He’s not the first wacky out there eccentric trainer to cause the boxing Intelligentsia to roll their eyes with his unorthodox methods. Case in point, Brendan Ingle.
