Nothing. You saw the whole fight for practical purposes.

I think if i just watched rd. 1 I would have seen the whole fight.

I turned the sound off too because those a-hole commenters were yapping it up about everything except the fight in progress.
I thought that it was an interesting enough fight. I wouldn’t mind seeing Price v POV rematch.

Had it 8-4 Pov, felt it was a pretty clear win if you're not fooled by Hughie's prancing and air jabs

Pov not with the same snap on his shots he used to have, but still not a bad fighter at 40

Yes, I forgot the word “rematch.” Added it, but not quick enough for oogiebe The Kid.

I knew what you meant. I don't see the allure of it. Might be a closer fight than the first considering Pov's appearance today. He's not looking like a top 10 anymore. Not really sure what Pov's next move will be. Can't see him being relevant anymore.

So you sincerely feel that Povetkin will beat Fury within a couple of rounds?

If what you’ve claimed is a sincere opinion, then that’s essentially what you’re saying.
That is not at all what I'm saying. And typical of your reading between the lines.
In a 10 round fight I expect the scores to be
8-2 or a late stoppage
You adamantly claimed that Alexander Povetkin was ten times better than Hughie Fury.

Is it safe to assume that you were wrong? :OhYes:

Hughie is bang average. Povetkin is older than dirt.

You had the score pretty much right. What was it? 9-3? YOu had 8-2. Good work Tiny!

He was incorrect in claiming that Povetkin was ten times better than Hughie Fury. In truth, Povetkin is a hundred times better than Hughie. That's right: one hundred times better.

However, Alexander Povetkin the fighter was not in the ring tonight. Nowhere to be seen. The fat blond haired guy we saw was not Povetkin the fighter. Rather, he was Povetkin the rich, out-of-shape, middle aged recreational golfer who, once upon a time, happened to have been a ferocious fighter. Two different Povetkins.

Get the point?

Povetkin the fighter -- who once existed but not anymore -- would have put Hughie's head in the dime seats within five rounds.

Fight was VERY predictable. The only real variables were injury and the judges. As there was no hometown interference this time, and neither boxer sustained a fight-ending injury, Sasha, being stronger and busier, edged the decision. Why any of you here -and most of you are very knowledgeable about boxing- would think Hughie wouldn't wear out the 12 rounds is surprising.

Didn't announcer Tim Bradley say that Fury was "well ahead" during the 11th round? I'm wondering how many other people here saw it that way.

I don't mean to be argumentative, but you are wrong about Bugner. The reality is that the prime Bugner was easily a higher class fighter than Hughie, possibly in every respect too. I'm talking about the 1973-1976 version of Bugner, especially the one who fought Ali and Frazier in 1973. Bugner's defensive skills, and hand/foot speed were no less good than Hughies. And Bugner's durability was far superior to Hughie's, I think.

Bugner's problem is that when he was put under serious pressure, he went into his defensive shell, and for some reason he stayed there. That's how he lost fights he should have won. Joe also had problems sustaining his offensive, possibly because he was a tad musclebound (that's what Henry Cooper said, at least). But Bugner's flaws weren't as bad as Hughie's.

I can't imagine a prime Bugner being made to feel vulnerable -- and put on the run -- by the likes of Parker and Pulev. Also, I'm certain that a prime Bugner would have used his left jab effectively enough to have outpointed the burned out, aged version of Povektin that Hughie "lost" to today.

I also predicted a win for Povetkin but I knew you were wrong about the Russian being ten times better than Fury.

It sadly appears you won’t admit this.

Reads like this Hughie Fury...

Bugner lost every time he stepped up to a higher level

-Not unlike this Hughie Fury...

That was the first time I'd ever seen Hughie fight and I was not very impressed. He seemed totally one-handed. A jab and nothing else.

Also the announcers were a bit weird. Povetkin was the guy with the world-class resume who has been in the top 10 (if not top 5) forever, and they were talking as though Hughie was a huge favorite coming in when in fact he was a slight underdog.

I’m going to go out on a limb here, by boldly proclaiming that the likelihood of an upset being scored in the Povetkin-Fury bout is pretty significant.

My god, will this fight finally kill the Hughie Fury hype train? He just is not that good, and boring as hell to boot.

Who am I kidding, he will keep getting big fights, and everyone will say "He only lost to top 10 fighters, he's really good, he's still young...."

For me his performance against Pulev has already killed the remains of hype about him. I picked Povetkin to win in the way he actually did it.
