Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
You're crazy if you don't think Canelo starts a fight like this with about a six round lead on the cards, but I still like this matchup a lot.
Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
Kovalev knows he needs a KO to win. For 12M I doubt he gives a crap. He's already lost fights. Whats another loss? Kovalev needs to win 9-10 rds to get a draw. Everyone knows it. Including him. Including the oddsmakers.
Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
We can all see why Canelo has gone for this, but it's still ballsy as hell.
First time in his career he won't have a strength and weight advantage.

That's the worry, he just cashes out, but I suspect he still has the desire to put gingernut in his place.

Wasn't that tough agaibst yarde, and it means he won't have been getting out of shape, he will be well tuned upvictor-romeo wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 13:46Plus the quick turn around from the tough fight with Yarde for the 36 year old is the biggest determinant and advantage for Canelo right now...but f**k it Kov can win and he will get paid for sure..retirement money. I wonder what drug testing policy is in place for this fight..diddy wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 12:24
Kovalev hasnt faced anyone with the supreme class to really exploit his body besides Ward. Ward and Canelo, these guys are master tacticians. Maybe Hopkins 10 years prior could've done it. Canelo's team is moving pieces on the chess board here. Canelo has opened a -400 favorite. When you have 2 of the judges in your pocket every fight you can take calculated risks like this.

Hope Kov doesn’t fold as soon as he gets tagged to the body hard. If this is his last fight (I doubt), I hope he really gives it his all and we get a good fight.

I don't think Canelo is beating anyone at LHW but Kovalev. If this fight was 5 years ago, Canelo gets mopped up. He has taken this fight precisely because Kovalev is on the back 9, seems to have lost some snap in his punches, some nastiness in his personality & has become a bit chinny. Bivol & Gvozdyk both handle Canelo. He cannot beat those younger guys at 175, certainly not Bivol. At the very latest, Kovalev should have retired after he avenged his last loss to an Alvarezmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑13 Sep 2019, 13:47 If Canelo can wipe out Kovalev we have to consider him beating everyone at LHW

What makes us think someone like Beterbiev is any more sturdy than Kov?

kovalev's mentally very weak & physically extremely fragile. he is very old & total alcoholic. just a mess of a human being. let's be real here, he's scum.
how he ever managed to become world champion... who the eff cares, that guy is just trash.
canelo will annihilate the old pathetic wino both physically & mentally but one thing is for sure, he will do it to the BODY.
ribcracking, soulcrushing, bonebreaking punches to the body!

canelo will eat jabs all night, if canelo gets to him to the body, kovalev is smart enough to get out of there, no way he knocks out kovalev.
but no doubt at the end of the night they will give it to canelo, no matter what no matter how.

People go way, way overboard with this "extremely fragile" stuff. He has lost by stoppage twice, with one of them very controversial. He's not frickin' Glass Joe out there.adislav123 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 17:38 kovalev's mentally very weak & physically extremely fragile. he is very old & total alcoholic. just a mess of a human being. let's be real here, he's scum.how he ever managed to become world champion... who the eff cares, that guy is just trash.

Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
I am picking Canelo myself, but I am not been able to convince myself yet in the stuff about Canelo easy blowout.
1. Canelo hasn't blown out top fighters at any weight, whether 154 or 160
2.Kovalev has never just been destroyed easy work. He's been competitive in every one of his fights, and in the Ward stoppage he wasn't even down. He's fragile and may be past his best, but it's not like he's some totally glass corpse of a man. He's still winning and even when he's lost he's been either well ahead or right in the fight. People do seem to exaggerate a bit about him being done. He hasn't actually even been dropped by a bodyshot.
3. People who say Canelo will destroy Kov often then act like Canelo has little chance vs other top LHWs, or they simply won't entertain those bouts. Why though? If Canelo annhilates Kov that's one of the best wins anyone has at LHW, and he will have shown himself to be much more effective than the likes of the very solid LHW E. Alvarez. Why then act like he doesn't have a real good shot to beat a crude, dropped guy like Beterbiev, E. Alvarez, or Gvo, etc.

He won't 'annhilate' kov. He'll wear him down to the body. Maybe stop him late, but most likely wide decision in part to home field advantage. Why do you always criticize other posters without mentioning them directly? Who are these posters who claim Pednelo will destroy Kov?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 18:33 I am picking Canelo myself, but I am not been able to convince myself yet in the stuff about Canelo easy blowout.

Why do you always seem to think you're being addressed, there are many people who talk boxing online
Just look around, it's easy to find that opinion.

I know it's not me as I've never said that. I was just curious. You do seem to have a proclivity of doing that. Hmmmm.

Why would I mention all the names of the people who hold a certain common opinion? It's easy work to find people thinking Canelo beats him up, is there some rule of posting that I have to quote each person who believes it?

Nelo also a 4-1 favourite
But I'm sorry to question the idea that he's dominant in this fight![[icon_e_sad.gif] :verysad:](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)

wonder what the polls would look like if Canelo agreed to leave his safe h(e)aven and box elsewhere? ...shall we say in Chelyabinsk?
