Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
am i the only one who sees kovalev beating the shit out of canelo? canelo faced a paper belt holder at 168, to be fair, he looked good.
canelo lacked power at middle v ggg, how will he handle kovalev.

He had enough power to make Golovkin cautious and reluctant to go to Canelo's body. Canelo will probably be more powerful at 175 than Ward.

Kovalev is not the same after Ward fights. Yarde almost stopped him in Chelyabinsk. In Chelyabinsk, Canelo would just be more determined knowing that he doesn't have usual backing by judges.

Can't make a dollar retired.thomasjkelley wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 17:10I don't think Canelo is beating anyone at LHW but Kovalev. If this fight was 5 years ago, Canelo gets mopped up. He has taken this fight precisely because Kovalev is on the back 9, seems to have lost some snap in his punches, some nastiness in his personality & has become a bit chinny. Bivol & Gvozdyk both handle Canelo. He cannot beat those younger guys at 175, certainly not Bivol. At the very latest, Kovalev should have retired after he avenged his last loss to an Alvarezmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑13 Sep 2019, 13:47 If Canelo can wipe out Kovalev we have to consider him beating everyone at LHW
I feel Canelo will do it

7/2 Kovalev is the wrong price.
That 8th round vs Yarde may well have been Krusher's last "trip to the well," but, still 7/2 ?!
I'm sure even those picking Canelo would give Sergey better than 22 % chance.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised by the odds. Canelo has never even fought at 175 before. Hell, Canelo hasn't even fought at 168 unless you count Rocky Fielding which no one does. Kovalev might be past his prime, but he is still a solid, experienced fighter. If you're betting Kovalev, I think the public money will be heavy on Canelo between now and fight night. Waiting is a good move.

Yeh, I don't think ANYONE should be surprised IF Kovalev BEATS Canelo.Gimp Mask wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 13:35 Yeah, I'm a little surprised by the odds. Canelo has never even fought at 175 before. I won't. It won't be a huge shock. But then again, I doubt it will be a huge shock if Canelo beats Kov. Especially us guys on this forum.

Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
Sergey Kovalev’s bout against the novice Anthony Yarde was a clear indicator of the Russian’s powers being on the decline.
Krusher’s fight against the Brit was moderately and surprisingly competitive, despite Yarde only started engaging in the sport at 20 years of age, having almost no amateur experience and had never defeated any top-ten domestic UK or European fighter, let alone anyone world-rated.
Sergey Kovalev has to be in much better form if he’s to stand any chance of defeating Canelo, otherwise he’ll be stopped within six rounds.
It might even be a one-sides beat-down if Krusher’s performance against Yarde accurately reflects the best of his current fighting ability (due to his advanced years).

It would be wise to bet on Canlo's win today, and on Kovalev's win the day before fight.Gimp Mask wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 13:35 Yeah, I'm a little surprised by the odds. The odds will be changing a lot, because of patriotic betting (in the USA).
So, I expect the odds for Canelo's win will drop significantly by November.

Golden Boy Promotions had hoped to stage the fight at the larger T-Mobile Arena, but the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights have a home game on Nov. 2.

Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
The deal between Golden Boy, Alvarez's promoter, and Main Events, which represents Kovalev, had been close for the past week. It got hung up, sources told ESPN, when Top Rank -- which has rights to Kovalev stemming from a deal it made with Main Events to put his February rematch with Eleider "Storm" Alvarez on ESPN+ -- sought a low seven-figure fee to give up its involvement in the bout.
After days at a stalemate, Main Events agreed Wednesday to pay Top Rank what it was seeking. Once that contract was signed, Main Events signed the deal it had made with Golden Boy to finalize the Nov. 2 fight. Part of the agreement gives DAZN rights to future Kovalev fights, at least one if he beats Canelo Alvarez -- possibly a rematch -- and two if he loses, before he would return to ESPN under his Top Rank agreement, according to a source.

Kovalev is not in his prime anymore: still a dangerous fighter but after the losses to Word is a different fighter. I voted for Canelo to KO him.

Kovalev dominated the fight and beat the crap out of Yarde.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 14:44 Sergey Kovalev’s bout against the novice Anthony Yarde was a clear indicator of the Russian’s powers being on the decline.

Canelo hasn't ever stopped a top class MW let alone LHW. I see nothing to suggest he stops Kovalev.

The amusing thing to me is how some people act like Callum Smith is a bigger threat to Canelo than Kovalev.
Re: Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev - November 2, 2019
If just more boxer had the desire to fight the best like canelo does

Yarde doesn't even spar and never went past 8 rounds, and he almost stopped Kovalevjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑19 Sep 2019, 04:53Kovalev dominated the fight and beat the crap out of Yarde.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 14:44 Sergey Kovalev’s bout against the novice Anthony Yarde was a clear indicator of the Russian’s powers being on the decline.

He didn't dominate Yarde the entire fight.

He won pretty much every round and knocked him out, aside from a few moments in the 7th, he was always in control.
Yarde may be raw, but he's a genuine 175 pounder and a big one at that.
I've been wrong before, but I expect kovalev to dominate Canelo, though whether he gets the decision is another matter.

He doesn't have to say it. He isn't that strong mentally. At least not nearly as strong as Canelo.

not sure who was the first one who came up with this "not mentally strong" bs...
