Kovalev will have to get a KO if he wants to get a win over Canelo. I just can't see it happening though, even though it would make my day.

Could quit, get stopped by ref or corner.

I just don't see it.. Especially against Kovalev.

Who knows Kovalev has even recovered fully. He only fought at the end of August.

He only had 1 hard round. What does he need to recover from?

Canelo is a durable little bugger for sure, but when has he taken good shots from a good puncher above MW?

JC Chavez was an unmovable object at 160 but then got sent to his ass and stopped by Mr. Fonz

The NSAC went with executive director Bob Bennett’s recommendation and approved Russell Mora as the referee for their 12-round fight.

The NSAC also approved New York’s Julie Lederman, Nevada’s Dave Moretti and Connecticut’s Don Trella as the judges for the Alvarez-Kovalev fight at its monthly meeting Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Nevada judges Tim Cheatham, Eric Cheek, Lisa Giampa, Patricia Morse Jarman and Glenn Trowbridge, Connecticut’s Glenn Feldman and New Jersey’s Steve Weisfeld were among those Bennett also considered recommending to work the Alvarez-Kovalev fight.

...if I were on Kovalev's team I would thoroughly check out those gentlemen and gentlewomen ;-), their pedigrees, records, likes and dislikes before approving anyone belonging to NSAC..

I can't stand Canelo, but I also have trouble picturing what it'd even look like to see him stopped. I think they both hurt each other but the fight goes the distance.

Trella is definitely a crook scoring the first GGG fight as a draw while giving Canelo round 7 which was one of the best Golovkin's rounds.

I have some feeling this fight would be entertaining war. Both have nothing to lose. Alvarez stepping up 2 weightclasses to challenge proven champ who is big, strong, can punch and has excellent boxing skills. (in contrast to his super middleweight BS title fight against Rocky Fielding). If he lose to Kovalev, there is no shame. On the other side, Kovalev would fight against most popular boxing star in multi million dollars fight. Both fighters have disadvantages: Kovalev is past his prime (but still has that fire - Yarde fight and Eleider Alvarez rematch prove that) and Canelo is small (former 154 pounder going to light heavy is very respectable IMO).

As said previously, he's never taken punches from a LHW, let alone one who is a known puncher. I think the jab will be key, if kovalev finds a home for it early, Canelo is in trouble. Its worth remembering Canelo was very wary of GGGs power,

I thought of that as well with Mora, but tbf, I think he's been good since that incident, and it he got blasted so hard for that fight that it may be a case where he is vigilant to make up for it

as expected the big fix is in.

everybody taken "care" of, everything arranged for a premeditated outcome.

all the universe's most deadly bodypuncher has to do is cover up, throw a 5 second flurry twice every round and if he stays on his feet he'll walk away with a split decision and the belt.

doesn't matter if kovalev will clearly outjab him 5 to 1.

commentators will freak out everytime canelo throws a 1-2-3 missing or glancing off kov's gloves. (equals 3 landed power punches on compubox)

every landed bodypunch lets the whole fvcking arena errupt in an orgasmic frenzy.

no doubt in my mind kovakev wins the actual fight but looses the decision. just hope he knocks him out clean and spoils the shitshow!

that said i really like canelo as a fighter.

Vegas house judges. We know the cards already. It's KO/TKO or at least 3 knock downs for Kovalev to "win". Canelo need only let this hand go, punch air, and he will be given the rounds.
