A draw is possible. Especially if Kov wins convincingly
A clean ko should swing the judges his way

Or could get Kovalev disqualified.

margaret thatcher wrote: 31 Oct 2019, 00:42 I'd say Canelo wins a decision. But so many smart boxing ppl are talking stoppage, it makes me wonder if I'm missing something. I mean I know Kov is vulnerable and all that, but he's no bum and Canelo aint been stopping his top level opposition even at 160. Even at 154 he was really more a cumulative thudding puncher.
Kovalev turns into near dead weight of a floppy fish when tired. Ward is no puncher but got him out of there. Canelo would do the same if that opportunity presents itself.

Can't happen.

Canelo is the unquestioned Face of Boxing.

Kovalev isn't even the Face of Russia.

Eventually it happened vice versa. Actually, Kovalev was doing right until the 10th round. He should have become sharper, put more power in punches. I was waiting it from him, that's why I picked him to win. But Kovalev remained methodical late, while it was Canelo, who activated himself. Canelo timed great shots and got the job done.

Leonard and Hearns became overnight Lightheavies
Not exactly. Hearns actually had 3 fights at super middle (all world title fights) before moving up to light heavy. At light heavy Hearns fought 2 tune-ups against tomato cans before successfully challenging WBA light heavy champ Virgil Hill in his 3rd bout at 175. After losing that belt, Tommy moved up to cruiser until he retired in 2006.

Leonard went from middleweight to 165 where he fought WBC light heavy champ Don Lalonde for the vacant WBC super middle title & for Lalonde's WBC light heavy title. After that he fought Hearns in a super middle unification bout, then returned to middle & super welter.

Hearns went straight to LH to fight Dennis Andries for the wbc title

Fightdoctor wrote: 30 Oct 2019, 22:26 Canelo has thrived on being the bigger heavier fighter in all his previous bouts with the exception of Jacobs, Fielding and Chavez. Jacobs is a fighter who in his two biggest fights has been content to go the distance (moral victory) while banking $millions. Winning is an afterthought to him. Fielding and Chavez were dead at the weight and frankly both are B class fighters. Kovalev is whole different beast. Everyone knows about his power and great jab. I think the intangible here is that Kovalev losing to a middleweight would taint his entire career. He trained in the same gym with Canelo when Canelo was 19. As a proud Russian he will never allow that to happen. Look for Kovalev to work behind the jab to Canelo's chest. By the 6th round Canelo will be a defeated fighter incapable of hurting Kovalev or even landing significant punches. His corner will stop the fight shortly thereafter.
- Doc Ferdie, you posting from your gravesite a nice touch, but always thought your boxing analysis quacky as well your medical expertise, thus you the poster boy for logic gone wrong.

Spectacularly!

Solid 1, 2, 3 lineal logic while ignoring the full dimensions of the fight and fighters. It was a dangerous fight for both in spite of the goobering by the media for Canelo as demonstrated in the 4th rd when Kov lands his signature flush Right that has deconstructed a slew of ranked LHs.

Canelo we can confirm now is cast in titanium to easily shake it off, the biggest question mark when they signed the fight. Media goobers picked body shots by Canelo, not the left hook straightener/straight right finisher. That's why they're media and fight docs instead of millionaires who know better, not that I claim millionaire status.

I rightly saw the fight 50/50 as a battle of unknowns in the adjustments need by both. The scorecards reflected this.

Canelo and Kov haters stewing in their own bile good for mucho lucre in their world. Thanks for the free clown show!

Yup. Just finished my plate of crow. But they told me at the last minute that I couldn't drink anything to wash it down.

I have no proof. But in my opinion Canelo was juiced to the gills (and has been for a while). And Kovalev isn't the proud Russian that I imagined. Team Canelo played the A-side advantage to the max.

Hopefully Canelo keeps his word and fights Beterbiev sometime in 2020. Please no rehydration clause or catchweight this time.

Beterbiev is the ibf champion. He'll have the same rehydration clause for all of his fights.

The IBF has an exception to it's rehydration clause when it is a unification fight.

yes I know and wasnt having a pop , but your first post was quite emphatic in the assertion canelo would be stopped .
I would like to see this happen frankly or at least beat him so obviously on points that it cant be fiddled with by dodgy judges !
