He's undefeated as heavyweight champion of Japan.

Of course he has been beaten, they have been talking about it up in this thread.
The "former" part of my comment relates to the fact he vacated the title, there will be a new champion crowned before he fights Dubois.

The better talking up point, if that was what you were doing, would be surely "the man that unified the Japanese title with the Orientals and WBO Asia Pacific champion, in fact he's the the first man to unify those 3 titles"
Jesus Christ - I now know why I don't bother with the B and I forum anymore - it used to be good once.

It doesn't matter who has done what - he's still undefeated as heavyweight champion of Japan - that's it. We all know he isn't unbeaten as a professional fighter - no need for you to point it out Mr Pedant.

No need for your last part, I simply stated that he is the first Japanese heavyweight champion (who has never lost his title in the ring... therefore an undefeated Japanese heavyweight champion just as Rocky Marciano was an undefeated world heavyweight champion) to headine a British card - if you want to add all of that then be my guest. :TU:

NB: And who gives a flying fornicate who is 'The WBO Asia-Pacific Champion'?

If you're going to call me pedantic I might as well be pedantic, Kyotaro is not the first Japanese Heavyweight champion, that was
Noburu Kataoka in the 1950's there was a bog song and dance when the JBC reactived the title.

I'd put a lot more stock in him being the Heavyweight champion of the Asia Pacific region than Japan. He was the guy that held the OPBF title after Parker vacated, a hell of a lot more prestigious than being the best Heavyweight in a country that doesn't have more than a handful of fighters in the division.

Being the king of the region is better than the champion of a single nation.

A first in British boxing though, an undefeated Japanese heavyweight champion to fight in a main event,

Oh right, did Noburu Kataoka fight on a British card as the main event? I must have missed that fight of his where he fought Don Cockell or Johnny Williams....

The rest of it, I completely disagree - the WBO Asia-Pacific heavyweight title is a bogus bullshite title - the kind that's killing off what was once a great sport.

When Usyk ends up winning the vacant WBO title I’d imagine F rank will regret angling Dubois into a Mando position through fighting cans.

Will be Big D's fifth fight this year.

Poor work from Frank IMO. if he wants Dub to get experience and belts fighting guys like this and Tetteh then fair enough... But he could fight every week at this level.

I find it hard to argue with five fights, considering one of them was v Gorman. Fujimoto hast a good ranking, though I suspect it will be a blowout. His win v Ishida was apparently less than convincing.

Good point. Could end up being a similar situation as Yarde getting the WBO shot against Kovalev. We saw how that ended.

As usual, I think Frank's hoping the casuals will buy into the "undefeated", "former WBO (regional) champion" and "ONLY one loss" announcements rather than knowing anything about the quality of the opponents. It will come back to bite him if Dubois gets a title shot without enough experience against higher quality opponents.

Fujimoto is a bit of a mover so it’ll be something a bit different for DD, however the flip side is that he has absolutely zero chance of winning whatsoever.

Was hoping for much better fare than this.

If DDD keeps improving at his current pace, he's my pick to take over the division in those few years. He'd batter Joyce.

The copper box is a piece of piss for me to get to, and as predicted I ended up with an upgrade to almost what gets called ringside due to weak sales for the DDD Gorman fight even though I bought the cheapest seats.

Probably end up press row for this.

I’m already trying to get some mates to go.

It's not a great opponent on paper but it's his 5th fight of the year and his 14th in total.

Just a keep busy fight to keep him ticking over and in the public eye. . I see him stepping up a level next year.

I was expecting better for DDD after the last sacrificial lamb was served up, but as above...he's young with a potentially big future ahead of him. It's good he's staying busy too.

Fwank will, however, need taking to task if he does one of ridiculously painstakingly long milking jobs.

The problem for me is, he's so far above this level that what's the point?

I think times have changed from the days of promoters milking the fans with fighters and building up 30 fight records before they go for the big make or break fight.

You can't call him the hottest prospect in boxing and then match him like this. lol no fkn way.

Dubois is young and shouldn't be rushed. He's still learning his trade. Lennox Lewis is the perfect example. He was an Olympic champion and he was brought along perfectly. Lennox fought Noel Quarless, Ossie Ocasio and Dan Murphy on the way up. This is the right fight for DDD at this stage. There's no need to jump up several levels at once. Look what happened to David Price when he went from Skelton to Thompson.
