His median weight throughout his career is around 223. Not sure why any of this means anything really. He was coming off the flu for the first Ortiz fight and he was too light for the Fury fight. Those two were the anomolies. Last 7 fights: 223.5/212.5/214.75/220.75/222/226.25/228.75. Vs Ortiz II...???

Luis Nery vs. Emmanuel Rodriguez CANCELLED
The Luis Nery vs. Emmanuel Rodriguez bantamweight fight has been cancelled due to safety reasons for the Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz 2 card on Saturday night. Nery (30-0, 24 KOs) came in ONE pound over the bantamweight limit at 119lbs, and Rodriguez (19-1, 12 KOs) didn’t accept the financial offer to have the fight go ahead for the card.
Rodriguez not fighting due to safety reasons
They’re saying it’s a safety concern for why Rodriguez didn’t take the fight, but it was only one pound that Nery came over, not 4 or 5.
It’s unclear how much extra money Rodriguez wanted to get. Nery’s purse for the card was $300,000 and Rodriguez’s $70,000. Rodriguez might have wanted more than Nery, 24, was willing to give.
Former WBC bantamweight champion Nery was the A-side fighter, who many believe is a future star. Rodriguez is just a good basic fighter, who is coming off of a 2nd round knockout loss to Naoya Inoue. He’s NOT considered a future star like Nery.
----------------------
In another weight-related situation, Julio Ceja failed to make the 122-pound limit by 4.5 pounds, but his PPV bout against WBA super bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa is still on. Ceja cannot win the belt and it will become vacant if Ceja wins the fight.

I agree. Well, the first Ortiz fight was a good lesson for Wilder. And then Fury fight. Ortiz appeared to be in a better physical shape now. He's old, but he didn't have hard bouts after Wilder. So Ortiz still looks like a dangerous opponent. If Wilder KOs him early, I'll be impressed too.

ortiz will put a clinic on wilder. outbox him from the opening bell & work up his titanium beard until the corner throws in the towel.
wilder will have problems even touching ortiz.
fair ref, doc & judges would be nice but of course they'll fvck ortiz over

Ortiz is far from being that elusive.adislav123 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 09:02 ortiz will put a clinic on wilder. outbox him from the opening bell & work up his titanium beard until the corner throws in the towel.

Ortiz is old as hell, Wilder has the confidence of already stopping him, this ends early for me

I’ve been proven right, once again. Wilder ALWAYS weighs less than 220lbs against threatening decent opposition!

This PPV got even weaker...imagine if Figurora had also decided not to fight with Ceja being way overweight

Sorry card, of course there is no ufc and no big prime time college game. I can already see the extra $90 on my bill.

Re: Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz II - November 23, 2019
ortiz is 40 & in tip top shape.
ortiz won the first 5 rounds up until the first knockdown.
wilder was done in in the 7th. if they wouldn't have gifted him that breather against the rules, ortiz would've finished him. 100%.
plus after the final wild pushdown, the referee blocked ortiz from any chance to even try to get up again & waived it off instantly without any count.
wilder would've got a full count plus again some extra recovery time by doc check.

It really isn't worth it for what they are charging in the US.
Your paying $75 for a really crappy undercard (the best fight now off) and what could possibly be 2 minutes of boxing
Take your money down the knock shop and get slightly longer than 2 minutes worth.

Lol, it's actually just $65! I hear you, but I bought it, nothing else on. I suppose the only justification is the first fight was much better than wilder/fury. Lol.KiwiRider wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 13:40Save your money mateOnetimeonly wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 10:43 Sorry card, of course there is no ufc and no big prime time college game. Wilder's brother ain't even a boxer really, just put some gloves on to cash in on his brother's name.

Hello!
Am I the only tight arse watching the free prelims?
They are actually quite entertaining thus far.
Heck, I might even cough up for the main fight card

Yeah. They can't match him lower than that. The guy barely threw a punch until he did, then knocked Wilder out proper style. Talk about glass chin!oogiebe wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 21:07Well, that's over now.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 21:04 Wilder's brother ain't even a boxer really, just put some gloves on to cash in on his brother's name.![]()
