Watch the video and review his source.
Other media sources, other than Sporting Icons, are making the same claims.
The point is, no official named source from Fox or the PBC has disclosed the actual figures.
People are making numbers up. No reputable source is providing actual numbers.
So 138K is as reliable as 275K, because I doubt anyone actually knows the real number.
Re: Wilder vs. Ortiz II does 275k+ PPV buys
That vid was done after this troll reported the 2,500 'record low' ppv.

Didn't you make multiple posts on this? SO you're as bad as they are. You even commented on how it bode poorly for the event. The 275k sounds reasonble. Don't you think? Or are you sticking to the worst ppv narrative?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑04 Dec 2019, 19:40Watch the video and review his source.

He reported it. He also called Wilder fans fake for not supporting Deontay in attendance or ppv's. So now you are defending this guy? He's one of the most biased boxing channels on youtube. Maybe you should watch Boxing Squared or Right Hook Boxing. They seem to be pretty fair and informed.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑04 Dec 2019, 19:41Apparently he denied the 2,500K figure.
Pay attention to the video and listen to what’s actually being said.

I clearly stated I was conveying rumours.
The 275K figure is also a rumour since it was provided by an anonymous source.

You’re a funny dude! You make me laugh at times.
Please bring it on and tell more comedic lies about me, it makes me chuckle.
Re: Wilder vs. Ortiz II does 275k+ PPV buys
As facinating as all this is
In summary no one believed 2,500 buys (but it was an amusing narrative for haters)
Dan Glazer has put his name to 138k, but he doesn't really know.
And now anonymous sources have put out a counter narrative of 275k through boxing scene
Finally no official figures have been released
I guess with this there is a little something for everyone to believe

I agree with what you’ve wrote, but I would like to add that even if the 275K rumoured figure being reported was true, it was still the worst PBC PPV of 2019 by a significant margin.Finkel wrote: ↑04 Dec 2019, 21:07 As facinating as all this is

Whether the lack of interest for this event was due to Wilder’s lack of drawing power or perhaps an industry trend is anyone’s guess, though I suspect it’s due to the former rather than the latter.

Wilder-Ortiz Rematch Generates Over $4 Million: 7,403 Tickets Sold
The unbeaten heavyweight from Tuscaloosa, Alabama racked up his 10th successful heavyweight title defense following a one-punch 7th round knockout of Luis Ortiz. So only 7,403 tickets were sold for the Wilder-Ortiz rematch, with 1,726 tickets given away free, meaning that 9,129 people witnessed the bout from a stadium with a capacity of 17,157.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Dec 2019, 05:43 Wilder-Ortiz Rematch Generates Over $4 Million: 7,403 Tickets Sold

Therefore, 47% of the seats were vacant, with 24% of those occupied being complimentary - unpaid for.
In stark contracts, 20,201 people witnessed the Joshua-Ruiz Jr. bout in NYC from the sold-out Madison Square Garden.

I think people get caught up on sales figures, when they should really be focusing on revenue generated. $4m is a good number.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑05 Dec 2019, 06:05So only 7,403 tickets were sold for the Wilder-Ortiz rematch, with 1,726 tickets given away free, meaning that 9,129 people witnessed the bout from a stadium with a capacity of 17,157.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Dec 2019, 05:43 Wilder-Ortiz Rematch Generates Over $4 Million: 7,403 Tickets Sold

Let’s not forget, FMJ hardly ever sold out the MGM or even the May-Mac fight didn’t sell out. Yet, he always generated big money.
Let’s look at Fury, his fight with Schwarz sold 5k tickets or so, generated $800k work out how much the average seat cost. His fight fight with Wallin was even more impressive. Only 3k tickets sold and generated around $950k..
Promoters and boxers will care more about how much they make, not how many seats they fill.
Let’s look at PPV buys. Canelo-GGG 1 did 1.3m buys right?
Canelo-GGG 2 did 1.1m buys. The second fight costs more, which means less bought it, however the sequel generated more than the first bout.

Re: Wilder vs. Ortiz II does 275k+ PPV buys | $4m gate
I dont get the arguments. Wilder v fury 2 will do at least 1mm buys. Its a huge hw fight that is being promoted by fox and espn.
Neither guys is a huge draw alone when fighting brezeale and otto wallin. Nobody cares about those fights. Everyone cares about this rematch
Will it do 2mm?? I doubt it but given the networks and weekend the fight is on it will have a shot.
Also who cares if fox or espn lose money? Let them lose money it isnt yours

The Wilder-Ortiz rematch only managed to sell 43% of the seating capacity of the MGM Grand Garden Arena venue. The stadium was half empty.
Regardless of whatever rumoured figure we’re working from, the Wilder-Ortiz rematch definitely has the worst PBC PPV buy-rate of 2019.

Using a % figure makes it seem much higher than it was. It did $6.3m gate and that from 11k tickets sold. Let’s not forget, Pac is probably the BIGGEST ticket seller in boxing maybe outside of Canelo (AJ in the UK)..Enlightened-One wrote: ↑05 Dec 2019, 11:57The Pacquiao-Thurman bout that took place at the same venue, four months prior to the Wilder-Ortiz rematch, achieved 54% more gate receipt revenue.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Dec 2019, 09:11

Adding the comps, it wasn’t half empty either.
Pac-Thurman sold 3k more tickets and made a further $2m.
Promoters/managers don’t care HOW many buys/tickets they sell compared to how much revenue they make. Obviously one compliments the other.
Imagine Wilder-Ortiz was priced at $50? Maybe more people would have bought it, but the revenue would have either been a bit less or exactly the same. The $25 makes a difference for consumers and the promoters.
We don’t know how much Spence-Porter did so we don’t know it Wilder-Ortiz 2 was the worst.
Arum said it did under 200k but he would say that. There was at least 2 sources saying it was tracking over 300k, maybe reaching 350k, which would make it better than Wilder-Ortiz 2, but as you said, Fox/Showtime haven’t released official figures.
