47% of the seats were vacant (i.e. no bum cheeks sat on them). Only 43% of the overall seating capacity of the venue were actually “sold”, the remainder were given away for free.
It wasn't quite 50%, for sure, but roughly-speaking, the stadium was half-empty.
The sources were anonymous though. No one knows anything about the people citing these figures.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Dec 2019, 12:44There was at least 2 sources saying it was tracking over 300k, maybe reaching 350k, which would make it better than Wilder-Ortiz 2, but as you said, Fox/Showtime haven’t released official figures.
I have also provided named sources quoting a 138K figure, but in reality, they might not know the actual figures.
These numbers are all made up. It’s all based rumour or idle gossip. It is not worth arguing about.
There is an obvious trend though, which clearly suggests that Wilder-Ortiz rematch was the worst performing PBC PPV event of 2019. And I tend to believe it, based on Wilder’s previous viewing figures. He's never been as big a draw as some of his stablemates.
I actually feel that some of the 147lb-ers affiliated with the PBC are far more commercially popular than Deontay Wilder. And historically-speaking, the big men were also considered the “biggest” draws, but this no longer appears to be the case for the PBC.
