I’d like to see most anyone starch Connor but I don’t see it in this one. Cowboys made for him especially at this stage of his career.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑28 Nov 2019, 21:51 McGregor/Cowboy is official for UFC 246 on January 18th.
I'm expecting Conor to win but would love to see Cowboy starch his ass.

Re: MMA
That overeem fight at the weekend was just as bad as chavez vs taylor 1,overeem gets floored with about 7 seconds Rozenstruik turns with his hands in the air overeem gets up wobbly and the ref jumps in and calls the fight off? There would of been about 3 seconds left after that and Rozenstruik was celebrating even tho it wasnt 100% over. Bad

Weird wasn’t it! Overoid was well winning as well. Could easily have seen out the roundthechump wrote: ↑09 Dec 2019, 19:37 That overeem fight at the weekend was just as bad as chavez vs taylor 1,overeem gets floored with about 7 seconds Rozenstruik turns with his hands in the air overeem gets up wobbly and the ref jumps in and calls the fight off? He collapsed into the cage. Rosenstruik could have hit him once more at that point the ref would've called it; he took chance just walking away in celebration.Wee Tommy wrote: ↑09 Dec 2019, 19:55Weird wasn’t it! Sore one. Had one like that on the front of my lip when my false teeth got kicked out through it. Lips heal quick.
Re: MMA
Seconds left and he walks away with his hands in the air the ref see's him walking away with his hands in the air and calls the fight off even though overeem gets to his feet and stumbles for a second or two but then head looks clear, shades of meldrick taylor.
Re: MMA
So the ref should consider the clock? it shouldn't factor in, he just got laid out and suffered an injury that he couldn't continue with.

Re: MMA
Dodgy stoppage. Ref was under pressure there.. Jairzinho was crap.
Re: MMA
The ref should know the time left in a round yes? So he should know that there was only seconds left, assess the situation,if he was in no danger of further punishment let it go,he was wobbled but not flat out. Bad refereeing imho.
Re: MMA
Very dodgy stoppage,he got mullered all fight then landed a beautiful shot with seconds left, referees should know their surroundings know who is in danger and know when there are literally seconds left in a round.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Dec 2019, 08:18Dodgy stoppage. Re: MMA
How should the ref know how much time is left when he is supposed to have eyes on the fighters at all times?
Re: MMA
Same reason most fighters do, they have this clock in their head, havent you ever been sparring and after about 3 mins think to yourself "thats gotta be the end of the round now" and the bell goes?Impractical Poster wrote: ↑10 Dec 2019, 23:48How should the ref know how much time is left when he is supposed to have eyes on the fighters at all times?

Bollocks. Sparring million times different from a main event. I’ve had rounds seem like they last forever and some go rapid cos it’s been easy.thechump wrote: ↑11 Dec 2019, 07:48Same reason most fighters do, they have this clock in their head, havent you ever been sparring and after about 3 mins think to yourself "thats gotta be the end of the round now" and the bell goes?Impractical Poster wrote: ↑10 Dec 2019, 23:48

It's different for a fighter. If a ref misses an important call because he's looking at the clock you can bet your ass the commission is letting them go.thechump wrote: ↑11 Dec 2019, 07:48Same reason most fighters do, they have this clock in their head, havent you ever been sparring and after about 3 mins think to yourself "thats gotta be the end of the round now" and the bell goes?Impractical Poster wrote: ↑10 Dec 2019, 23:48

Re: MMA
Its not bollox at all,a ref should know more than a fighter cause they onky have to ref a fight. And yes sparring is a million times different to a main even for someone like me who has never main evented anythin but overeem has main evented loads of times.

I could be wrong, but when these officials are in training I would assume they are taught to keep an eye on the fighters at all times. MMA is different than boxing anyhow. There is no stopping the action for a standing eight count or a 10 count during a knockdown which gives officials a chance to look at the time like in boxing. In MMA, especially when assessing the damage a fighter just took as in Overeem's situation do you take your eyes off the fighter. It would be total negligence.

Re: MMA
There is. Which is a good point in this case. Not sure the ref heard it. Sometimes it's drowned out by the crowd. In any case this is still MMA where there are no breaks for a fighter getting clobbered and floored. If they feel a fighter needs a standing 8 in mma the fight is stopped.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑12 Dec 2019, 11:06Isn't there a klaxon at 10 seconds??Impractical Poster wrote: ↑10 Dec 2019, 23:48
