Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
By Jim Dower: Joe Joyce (10-0, 9 KOs) will be facing former cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (41-5-1, 28 KOs) in two months from now on January 11 for the vacant EBU heavyweight title on January 11th in Hannover, Germany.
The ‘Juggernaut’ Joyce will need to keep his hands up more against Huck than he has in his first 10 fights as a professional, because guy has heavy hands.
This might be the level where Joyce winds up at fighting at the European level. His slow hand speed will make it difficult for him to compete with the top heavyweights in the division.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
Will be very difficult for Joyce to win a decision over there, and is Joyce really going to stop Huck? Looks like a calculated gamble by the Huck camp.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
Huck is no Usyk, alais.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
Yeah he’ll walk right through him, don’t understand why anyone is giving Huck a chance in this
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
I'm not even really a very big Joyce fan, but it seems fairly obvious to me that this is just a stay busy fight for JJ.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
I don’t rate Joyce that highly either but everything is heavily stacked in his favour in this fight, if it wasn’t he wouldn’t be going to Germany !

I agree that at any neutral venue, Joyce would be a red hot favourite. But the Germans haven’t put in an enormous purse bid for nothing. Joyce is still the clear favourite, but my point is that if this goes the distance, the scores could be curious. Joyce must be certain he will stop Huck to have taken this fight. And the German camp must be sure Joyce won’t stop him - otherwise why take the fight and why the big purse bid? That’s my point - I still think Joyce should find a way to win, but don’t see this as a gimme by any means.

The big purse bid is to lure future and better fights. No one thinks Huck has a chance, including the Germans.olij999 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2019, 06:19I agree that at any neutral venue, Joyce would be a red hot favourite. The fight for the vacant EBU heavyweight title between Joe "Juggernaut" Joyce (10-0) and Marco Huck (41-5-1) will go ahead on January 11 in Hannover (Germany) - at least according to the EBU. The fight is promoted by Huck Service Gmbh (headed by Marco´s brother Kenan) who won purse bids October 16 with an offer for 480,000 Euro - but the date s not yet officially confirmed by Huck & Co and there is no venue announced either.
The EBU have a set for of rules for the procedure following a purse bid that aren´t followed very strictly but the norm is that date and site are announced two weeks after the purse bid date with the fight taking place inside two months from this date so one can imagine there is some pressure on the Huck brothers to get it together asap.

I don't think huck has it in him now. He's an odd one as most view him as crude but he boxed the ears off of povetkin who people consider skilled. Just shows how much heavyweights suck.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
Huck is tough as hell but he has taken far too many shots over the years. Joyce by TKO/KO in around nine.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
Yeah i'm sure i had Huck winning that fight...Onetimeonly wrote: ↑25 Nov 2019, 23:43 I don't think huck has it in him now. He's an odd one as most view him as crude but he boxed the ears off of povetkin who people consider skilled. Just shows how much heavyweights suck.

I am a fan of Joyce. Like his style and his interviews.
I hope he can get int here with some of the top guys and make a name for himself in the division.

It´s official: MH Promotion stage Marco Huck (41-5-1) vs Joe "Juggernaut" Joyce (10-0) for the vacant EBU heavyweight title on January 11 at the TUI Arena in Hannover (Germany). The German team won purse bids on October 16 with an offer for 480,000 Euro to be split 50-50.
The show is billed as "Brexit Battle in Hannover and there are eight fights planned for the undercard but who is fighting isn´t announced yet.
Promoter Kenan Hukic, Marco´s brother, makes it clear in a press release that it´s been some stressful weeks to get it all together but now it´s done with a little more than a month to go.

JJ has to stop huck to have any prospect of anything else going forward
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
This fight is surely an utterly predictable foregone conclusion, yet..., I'm really looking forward to it.
Neither can really do anything but fight hard

Solid fight. After this though they need to be matching Joyce with more fellas his size. This is the era of the Super Heavyweight after all so I'm not sure beating up on faded Cruiserweight greats is the greatest preparation for the big showdowns this division has to offer.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
I'm looking forward to it as well. With these two guys, I can get stuck into the beers and still follow the action
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - 11 January 2020
Good fight. I am bit surprised that it is happening.
Joyce should take it but Huck is definitely a live underdog. Joyce beating Jennings makes me pretty confident that he will win this one too.
This is not going to be blink and you miss it fight. You will probably have time to have a toilet break between the KO punch starting and landing![[icon_twisted.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)

Yeah, just like when you "calculate" how far away a thunderstorm is when you're a kid !Heretic wrote: ↑16 Dec 2019, 11:05 Good fight. I am bit surprised that it is happening.

Joe starts to throw his first punch, and by the time it connects he's already missed his post-fight flight back home ![[icon_e_surprised.gif] :oo](./images/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)
