Depends on the depth of card - bigger budget will give 1 top quality card per month.
That’s problem with Sky right now - Sat fight night doesn’t have enough to pay fighters to get food fights now without PPV.
I love dazn, but they've lost a sensational amount of money here. Hundreds of millions that they'll never recoup on boxing. Sorry to see happen over there what happened here many years ago. Fighters are way overpaid.
Yeah but they did that initially until they built the client bases in Japan/Germany.
There revenue in Last Quarter was around 300m.
They say their content costs 1.5 billion roughly - so they ain’t at break even but if they have climbed to 300m in that space of time they must be doing OK and heading in right direction.
They guys have deep pockets to sustain it until it works.

That will never work here. Boxing is an afterthought in America. They need a major sport to cover it.
Yep just like net flix, can’t wait fiver a months, hope those robbing pudenda at sky die on their arses
Hearn himself actually said the future further down the line would be streaming - and that people couldn’t afford to keep spending £100-£150 month on TV and eventually that model would take over.
If DAZN/Top Rank and others offered same type of package at $150 for year - you couldn’t hesitate to buy for the content as Boxing Fan.
Yup. Sky aren’t stupid though, they know better than anyone that the future is streaming. They’re just making hay while the sun shines now and fleecing customers for as much as they can get away with. Eventually they’ll just roll Sky and Now TV together and move towards streaming only.
Clever from dazn to launch with Canelo bjs because that’s probably worth the £5 alone for the month. However, this is bad short term because we are getting no extra content to what we have been getting on sky but it’s £5 more. Hearn will promote on dazn in uk when sky runs out and then dazn will be good because we will have all decent boxing content in one place. This year dazn should try to get shows in the uk other than match room USA, for example MTK fight nights and other American shows.

AJ won't be here in a few years , accident waiting to happen now .
Look back at this forum a few years ago. People were saying the same thing. He’s still here and he’s still with Matchroom.
The grounds are a bit stronger now through aren’t they? He’s still a big draw but one that got battered by a bit of a butterball - albeit a reasonably talented one

They have Serie A/Bundesliga/ Champ league in Germany....big Sports in Japan - they are big players and will get something major eventually.

Without UK boxing (ringfenced on Sky), how does this work ? It's just another B0xnat1on. Not enough mainstream interest in US boxing to sustain.
I guess this could be seen as a 'soft launch' to test the market and get any teething problems out of the way ahead of their attack on the major sports rights, including AJ when his contract is up for renewal in 18 months or so.
Do we then see the likes of Adam Smith and Ed Robinson jumping ship to DAZN or do they stay loyal to Sky and stick with them when their boxing output will be modest in comparison to now?
Would love to see Sky Boxing hit hard with this. Their content on their regular sports channels has been shocking! Their PPVs are worse! Chisora/Usyk and Whyte/Pov as PPVs are a total and utter piss take and a slap in the face to Sky Sports subscribers. Their commentary/punditry is absolute dog sh1t! I can't stand Hearn but if he fukked Sky over here i'd give him a pass.

Adam Smith just got new role as Commercial Boss - Barney Francis also got promoted.

Francis's promotion means he is no longer head of sports -therefore he's not involved with Boxing as he was.
Smith's move to a commercial role is telling - apparently he'll still be doing comms aswell for a bit but the striking thing to me is he will be responsible for negotiating contracts - going to be tough for him to keep AJ if Eddie and DAZN offer stupid money when his contract is up,

Would anyone other than SKY employ Adam Smith???
Obviously his commentary is awful, does he do anything of value behind the scenes?
