Dubois has been looking more convincing than Ajagba for the current moment.

Yeah, but making the British team is far more challenging than it is qualifying for Nigeria. And the Brit is three years younger than Ajagba, but competed in many more amateur bouts.

It’s far easier to become the biggest fish in the pond than it is in an ocean.

Put it this way, if Dubois doesn't have any amateur experience, then the same principle pretty much applies to Ajagba also, because the difference between the two seems trivial to me.

Joe Joyce has more experience than Dubois and Ajagba, but that's fairly obvious and out-of-scope of my previous comments.
It's not. It's completely on topic. The whole thread is about Ajagba's picking Joyce because of his amateur experience in comparison to Dubois.
These are two claims that were conveyed in the very same video:

• Efe Ajagba believes that he can beat Anthony Joshua, even though he lacks experience in the amateurs.

• Efe Ajagba believes that Daniel Dubois cannot beat Joe Joyce, because he lacks experience in the amateurs.

That was the reason why I questioned Ajagba’s justification for criticising Daniel Dubois. His logic is flawed because he doesn’t apply it consistently.

Well it's the first time you mentioned AJ, so you weren't questioning him on that before. You've moved the goalposts a little bit there, mate.

Well... When have you ever heard a prospect not say he thinks he can beat the champ? They all say it. It's kind of a non issue.

They probably believe it too. If you are a perfectly grounded individual with no illusions about your ability relative to your contemporaries, and you see yourself as others do, then you're unlikely to have what it takes to make it in professional boxing.

Well, maybe as a journeyman or trial horse, but not at top level. Self belief is a wonderful thing but it frequently comes at the expense of self awareness - no bad thing if you're aiming high as a boxer.

This goes hand in hand with a fighter making what often comes across as a feeble excuse for losing. Take Deontay's costume weight as an example. It might seem pathetic to us, but a top fighter needs something to blame for his defeat, something that can be put right and allow him to believe he can beat the guy next time. If he accepts he just had the crap beaten out of him by someone who is much better than he is, then he's finished as a world level fighter.

According to Ronnie sheilds, Ajagba will fight very soon again. He said the plan is by next year Ajagba fight as top contender.

It's nice if we can see Ajagba fights at least 4 times this year.

I haven’t moved the goalposts.

I wrongly assumed that everyone had watched the entire video when I submitted my comments. And was a little surprised that no one else had picked up on what Ajagba had said.

It seems as though others posted their own thoughts to this thread either after watching only a snippet of the video or perhaps after only having read the thread title/first post.

I simply felt that Ajagba had contradicted himself.

We'll leave it at that. :TU:

A lot more if you ask me. Ajagba is still a work in process. I think Dubs is on the threshold.

That's exactly what they've done. The title of the thread is "Efe Ajagba is Not Sold Out (sic) on Daniel Dubois" and the OP tells you to watch the video from 06:25.

I want Ajagba to succeed but he’s been unimpressive for three consecutive fights.

Even his own trainer expected more from Ajagba, claiming he should have stopped Cojanu sooner, because he kept loading up and trying to finish things with a single shot rather than letting his hands go and throw combos.

His handlers need to progress his career very slowly, because he clearly needs time to learn his trade.

He definitely isn’t good enough yet to be considered a world rated fighter.

I think he already can beat lot of top 10 fighters .. there were no dramas in Ajagba recent fights. Everytime Ajagba fights make his haters nervouse.

But people loves to talk shit about single knock down that he wasn't hurt a bit, and ramp it up even more. which is better for Ajagba popularity 🤣😂

Razvan kojanu took very heavy punishment from Ajagba, his face looked like a zombie.

I believe he will not fight for sometimes or end his career in a year or two. He was stupid to fight back after 6th round , hell no chance of of winning, except permanent injury to his brain.

Efe Looked Iffy.

Post by HeavyHitters »

Efe looked semi impressive in his victory over Razvan, but he didn't bowl me over. He didn't quite look to have a killer instinct in him, and rarely ever threw a punch with total bad intensions in that fight. If he would have come out in the 3rd or 4th rounds, and try to overwhelm an overmatched Razvan, to try and force the referee to step in and garner a TKO victory, then I would have been much more impressed. Unless he was just trying to get in as most rounds as possible, to gain experience. But knockouts are what usually brings the BIG money later on. At this point in his career, while fighting inferior opponents, heavyweights like Efe need knockouts to gain serious attention.

:bag: :box: :bag: :box: :bag:

PS - I'm getting my fights a bit mixed up. Efe did gain a TKO, but late in the fight. Frank Sanchez was the heavyweight who didn't seem to fight for a KO or TKO in his fight with Joey D. But I still think Efe needs to gain more of a killer instinct, especially against lesser fighters.

For a bloke his size with decent speed, I thought he’d have bowled over his last two opponents. Ajagba was shown a nice test in Demirizen. His casual approach is a bit suspect. Don’t like how easy he is to hit.

Dubois would KO him quick if they fought now IMO.

Dubois will never go 100 miles near Ajagba, unless he has to fight him for eliminator fight .. which i believe he never, having luxury for being british and marketable more than Nigerian Ajagba.

I know I'm talking to a troll, but I'll play along and counter that Ajagba looks the part, has a fair bit of hype, and seems to be one of the better prospects. Being an African won't hinder the interest in him in the UK, I'm pretty confident in saying that.

Gay lips ain't fearing someone dropped on their ass by Kiladze or taking 9 rounds to stop big slow Raz, maybe Efe needs to get a bit gay himself, I know you'd love that and make yet another thread about Efe's body

Dubois fought Nathan Gorman in a fight seen as 50/50 when he didn't need to. He's now taking on another ambitious opponent in Joe Joyce when he doesn't need to.

You're probably right that if Dubois and Ajagba meet it'll be in an eliminator maybe even for strap, but to imply that Dubois is likely to be scared of Ajagba is disrespectful, contrary to the evidence, and born out of ignorance.

Don't run with this. Mags is still a far better poster than you and I don't know how "English gay lips" applies to Dubois.

The only reason I got involved with this thread is that Ajagba said Joyce has a superior AM career to Dubois, and I think he's got a point.

As for you, Boxtune, you're one of the posters I'd be happy to see the back of.
