The further Fury goes in his career, the bigger his chances look against Lennox.

That's not all what happened.

The fight should not have been stopped.

Lewis was still stumbling. Lewis recently compared that situation to Fury vs Wilder 1 while talking with Joe Rogan, but c'mon now. Fury wasn't stumbling like you did in there. He got up completely fine.

Compare that to Lewis, Fury was definitely in better shape.

Anyone who has watched boxing for a long time has seen fighters get hurt worse than that and come back. The ref asked him if he was ok and he immediately put up his gloves indicating that he was. Like how went from "molesting" him to leaning on him.

Dude, watch that video again. Even the commentator says ''Lewis staggers'' and that was after he got up. If Referee let mccall to fight with Lewis when Lewis was still staggering, he could kill the guy in that situation. You need to got up in 10 seconds, and you can't stagger. You need to give a full confidence to the referee that you're fine and you can continue to fight.

Look how Ali got up from the Frazier punch. No staggering, without even waiting the referee to finish the 10 second countdown.

Touchy feely? What in the world are you watching? He may have grazed him with a forearm. The ref asked if he was OK. He said he was. Why ask the guy if you are going to stop it anyway if he says yes?

Here a few fights where a guy was hurt worse than Lewis and came back to win:

Look at Holmes right after he got up against Snipes

Foreman-Lyle

Moore-Durelle

There are many more like this.

Len was badly hurt and staggering like a drunk, the ref was very kind to be there so he didn't fall flat on his face. Good stoppagge and loads and loads of fights stopped on less than a heavy KD and a drunk impersonator who could hardly control himself

Yeah, it was a good stoppage. Lewis' legs were gone.

Was Lewis hurt more than the guys in the examples that I gave? No
Were they allowed to continue? Yes.
Did they come back and win? Yes.

Was the stoppage premature? Obviously yes.

Man was badly hurt and couldn't hold himself together, loads of guys been stopped on less than that and fights aren't stopped based on other fights anyway. Ref made the right call, too bad for Len that his legs were so gone that he was all over the ref, you can say you're fine but it rings hollow when you're stumbling into refs like a drunk man looking for action

Boxing history would far different if every fight was stopped that easily.

For starters, Renaldo Snipes would have been the heavyweight champion of the world.
Johannsson would have won the third fight with Paterson
Yvon Durelle would have beaten Archie Moore for the light heavyweight title.
Samuel Peter would have won the first fight with Wladimir Klitschko.

If Lewis ties McCall up and stalls, he probably survives. We can't ignore these fights and then say that Lewis should have been stopped.

Stop that. Holmes was up before the ref came back from moving Snipes to the neutral corner. He was bouncing before his gloves were wiped off and while he was hurt, it was nothing like Lewis.

You have to be kidding. Holmes got up and crashed into the turnbuckle. He didn't know where he was. If he was in the center of the ring, he would have fallen down again. He was hurt worse than Lewis. It's all right there.

Lol nah, I've seen loads of fighters get less hurt yet then be unable to defend themselves and then get stopped, Len more likely takes that fate, dude could hardly stand without the ref's help

What? He stumbled across the ring and head-butted the corner.

All in three seconds. Then he was fairly stable after that. Lewis was still in need of the ref to stand up when it was waved off.

As of now, Tyson Fury would have to show me more for me to pick him over Lennox Lewis. Lennox had quite a career. I like Tyson Fury, thought he would beat Wilder both times, but I'm not ready to pick him over Lennox at this point...not with both of them at their best.

I've seen it many times. The ref easily could have stopped that. He was in a bad way. Good for you to watch it again though. :TU:
