Calzaghe Deja Vu...?
Calzaghe Deja Vu...?
The BBC are reporting that JC will have a 'Superfight' in September.

As a Calzaghe fan I'm afraid I cannot get excited over this latest hype.
The latest opponents to be shortlisted are Jermain Taylor and Winky...
Come on Mr. Warren, let's cut the bullshit - I'll believe it when I see it.
A confused JC fan.

The "superfight" was supposed to be Calzaghe-Beyer.koomey wrote:The BBC are reporting that JC will have a 'Superfight' in September.

But as usual Frankie Warren made unreasonable demands and now Beyer is fighting Mike Kessler.

I'm so frustrated with JC, because I believe that he has great ability, but we'll never really know! :x

Like their going to pay the money Hopkins demands, I don't think anyone will pay him the amount he'd want.nickd wrote:Calzaghe seems to want anyone that is smaller than him. What happened to being a 2 weight world champion and moving up to 175 that he has talked about a lot in the past? They should be trying to lure Hopkins into a fight at 175, that is a superfight not feasting on Middleweights.
Fighting Hop won't make him a 2 weight champion though.
In the eyes of most knowledgable fans it would pretty much make him the man at 175. And if he won he'd have an all time great and hall of famer on his ledger. I'd rather see Calzaghe moving up to 175 and fighting there than fighting middleweights who are moving up. He has talked about 175 and struggling with 168 for years time to grow some balls and step up!Max Molyneux wrote:Like their going to pay the money Hopkins demands, I don't think anyone will pay him the amount he'd want.nickd wrote:Calzaghe seems to want anyone that is smaller than him. I am talking about stepping up in weight he has talked about 175 for years and never done it - in fact he has had bouts scheduled there only to pullout and continue at 168 it does make you wonder.... Why do his proposed superfights have to be against smaller guys? If he's good enough which we know he is why not move up and fight at 175? And I think you'll find any momentum Calzaghe got on March 4th has been well and truly lost with this latest fiasco!Max Molyneux wrote:Errm didn't he step up March 4th?
Your assuming he has no balls just because things havent happened.

Well HBO's interest in him has supposedly cooled with what happened recently.Max Molyneux wrote:If Hop fought smaller men and made his name through it then why not Calzaghe then?![]()
Is this double standards then?
Not yet.And I think you'll find any momentum Calzaghe got on March 4th has been well and truly lost with this latest fiasco!
Not double standards at all, but Calzaghe has talked about 175 for about 5 years and done nothing other than pull out of fights scheduled at that weight. His words were something along the lines of "its my dream to retire a 2 weight world champion".
Lets be honest Calzaghe could shit on your shoes and you'd still love him! ;)

I love you too if you shit in my shoes.
The sooner it happens the better. Or fight Kessler or Beyer. Forget middleweights there is unfinished business at 168 and above!Max Molyneux wrote:Lets be honest and not assume because it could happen just hasn't yet.nickd wrote:Well HBO's interest in him has supposedly cooled with what happened recently.Max Molyneux wrote:If Hop fought smaller men and made his name through it then why not Calzaghe then?![]()

Perhaps they're worried about being fucked around by Calzaghe? Lets be honest he has a reputation for doing so. Kessler is perhaps the safer bet in terms of the fight actually going ahead!Max Molyneux wrote:I wonder why at first Sauerland was talking about a Calzaghe - Beyer fight then suddenly is close to making a deal with Palle to fight Kessler.
Aren't both Joe and Kessler injured still?

The difference is that Kessler's injuries appear to be real.Max Molyneux wrote:Kessler's also gaining an inury reputation too and was more inacitve than Calzaghe.nickd wrote:Perhaps they're worried about being fucked around by Calzaghe? His injury against Ashira was shown to be realpundit wrote:The difference is that Kessler's injuries appear to be real.Max Molyneux wrote:Kessler's also gaining an inury reputation too and was more inacitve than Calzaghe.nickd wrote: Perhaps they're worried about being fucked around by Calzaghe? Kessler's fighting less because of injuries though Nick.
Better than arranging fights and then pulling out fornicating people around left right and centre. A lot of fighters might be sceptical about fighting Calzaghe as they cant guarantee they'll actually get a fight and a payday at the end of 2-3 months training they have to pay for.Max Molyneux wrote:His injury against Ashira was shown to be realpundit wrote:The difference is that Kessler's injuries appear to be real.Max Molyneux wrote: Kessler's also gaining an inury reputation too and was more inacitve than Calzaghe.
