Re: Your HW ratings
The belts themselves don't matter nearly as much as the actual opponents do, and there AJ has easily surpassed Wilder. You obviously did count IBF defenses too btw, you just didn't include unification fights at first for some bizarre reason, in which case you are trying to give Wilder more credit for fighting Washington or a shopworn short notice Arreola than you are for AJ fighting Parker or Wlad. BOOOMBSQUAAAD!!
AJ has the vastly better resume and wins, with 5 victims still ranked top 15, did way better in his defeat, and won 10 rounds in a rematch. He stopped 2 of their 3 common opponents faster and unlike Wilder didn't get hurt by any of them
Wilder has the inferior record, with just 1 top 15 win, was beaten more one-sidedly, and is coming off a bad bad loss without avenging it.
It's a no brainer who earned a higher ranking for the moment and thankfully we go by overall votes and not just bomb squader votes

Re: Your HW ratings
At least Wilder had a go at getting to Fury.
Joshua ran away scared from the small overweight fella that knocked him out last time around.

Re: Your HW ratings
Wilder was backed up and tentative all last fight, did you actually watch it. when exactly was he 'going for it'
He did take his beating while losing every round,, that was for sure though
Some excuse though
Re: Your HW ratings
Wilder had a go the first couple of rounds, especially the second.
Still lost both rounds but he had a go before realising he was going to be outgunned.

Re: Your HW ratings
Lol, if that is the standard for having a go, AJ certainly had one both times vs Ruiz, there was like 20 punches thrown

Anthony on the other hand was on his bike for twelve rounds.

Re: Your HW ratings
I think Wilder beats Joshua.
But I'd still have Joshua ranked above him at the moment.

Wilder never has thrown many punches per round.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 13:20Wilder didn't even throw 20 punches the first round, but credit to him for having a go early, okay sure Ewey![]()

Re: Your HW ratings
I think Josh wins and that it swings more in his favour each day, Wilder is 4-5 years older and has less technique to fall back on when his athleticism/confidence erodes
Correct obviously on point 2

Re: Your HW ratings
So he doesn't really have much of a go does he, I mean not even 20 punches a round is very very low , but okay, big credit to him for such a great effort and huge all out assault at victory, doubt we ever see Josh throwing as many as 17-18 punches a roundewenhay wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 13:21Wilder never has thrown many punches per round.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 13:20

Fury is harder to hit clean
Re: Your HW ratings
I'm sorry I don't think Joshua is as good as you think he is. I know you don't like others having a different opinion on this than you.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 13:23So he doesn't really have much of a go does he, I mean not even 20 punches a round is very very low , but okay, big credit to him for such a great effort and huge all out assault at victory, doubt we ever see Josh throwing as many as 17-18 punches a round![]()

Re: Your HW ratings
Lol wut? That has nothing to do with how good Joshua is , it was a question of effort. If you think Wilder really had a go at Fury but AJ didn't have the same at Ruiz, you obviously don't remember their fights or are just being biased ol Ewey. Wilder was totally scared and put into a shell by Fury, even in the first round he only threw like 15 punches and that was one of his more active rounds. He did find a way to beat AJ in the excuse department somehow though !
Fury probably beats both but I like Josh over Wilder more with each day

Re: Your HW ratings
Am I not allowed to think that Wilder beats Joshua based on what I have seen?

Maybe being the biggest Joshua fan on Boxrec you might be a little biased yourself?

Sure, but Wilder throwing 15 punches a round and fighting totally scared is some great effort beyond Joshua though, rightewenhay wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 13:36No bias whatsoever.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 13:33 Lol wut? That has nothing to do with how good Joshua is , it was a question of effort. You've been around here long enough to know I've never rated Joshua.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 13:37Sure, but Wilder throwing 15 punches a round and fighting totally scared is some great effort beyond Joshua though, right![]()

Re: Your HW ratings
Sure, that's obvious
Re: Your HW ratings
I say the Ruiz from the first AJ fight would murder Wilder in the ring. Nothing obvious about those two
Re: Your HW ratings
I agree with that. An in-shape Ruiz is a skilled pressure-fighter with extremely fast hands, and one of the best chins in the division. It'd be anything but an easy fight for Deontay.
His chance of a one shot knockout would still exist, but he would have a better chance of knocking out AJ, and maybe Fury, than the June 19 version of Andy Ruiz Jnr. Joshua knew he had to change his style for the rematch or suffer the same result (maybe not crucial in hindsight due to Ruiz gaining so much weight)
Joshua showed he had the ability to change from a front foot fighter to an effective back foot fighter. Some might point to the first fight with Stiverne but I seriously doubt Deontay has the required versatility. Could Wilder beat the version of Andy Ruiz who lost his titles? Yes - whole different ballgame.

Re: Your HW ratings
1. Tyson Fury
2. Anthony Joshua
3. Deontay Wilder
4. Dillian Whyte
5. Alexander Povetkin
6. Kubrat Pulev
7. Luis Ortiz
8. Joseph Parker
9. Michael Hunter
10. Andy Ruiz Jr
I think there is going to be a retirement purge in the next 2 years.
Maybe including Wilder.

Re: Your HW ratings
Fury said this before Ruiz kicked Joshua's butt, when Joshua was still undefeated.
Now imagine what he would say about Joshua after Ruiz fights
Wilder > Joshua is debatable, Ruiz comes third, and only if he gets into shape again.

Fury - He might be banned again, this time for tampering with the drug testing process.
Joshua - The most proven of the a pretty weak bunch, he needs a fight with Fury or Wilder.
Whyte - A weak choice for #3 overall, I know.
Parker - His win over Ruiz jr, his age, and being in good shape are the reasons why.
Usyk - Very skilled and proven durable, he might win a belt next.
Wilder - Badly exposed and full of excuses. I think he's done.
Pulev - Old, he can still box. Will face Joshua next.
Povetkin - At the very end of his career, he's old too
Ruiz jr - Assuming he's in shape. A big If.
Hrgovic - Looks like he's the real deal, young contender on the rise.
The winner of Joyce vs Dubois - Which I think will be Joyce.
Ortiz - Very old, would like to see him fight a top 20 guy.
