Yeah they do.
Devin Haney said he'd 'never let a white boy' beat him

I would love nothing more than for racism to cease to exist, but when I look at the world I see that it'll only end when humanity ends.clopixolacuphase wrote: ↑19 Apr 2020, 08:26Oh who knows what colour they were? I don't care. People can think they're Chinese. It doesn't mean anything. It doesn't say in the bible what colour he was. It says something about him having hair like wool and being dark skinned, right? BLACK! Pfft. Unless you're some sort of scholar in Biblical Hebrew, you've got no idea what it says in there.
I don't like really old books.
Can we stop the 'race war' now? Seeing as nobody's going to be fighting anything expect maybe a nasty virus any time soon, can't we just ignore this? I don't actually know who he is. I'm assuming he's a little bloke?

Go on his instagram and scroll down, he's full of conspiracy theories (also thinks covid is a government scam) and that black israelite stuff.
It was funny when people brought him up for flopgate like he was an authority, but dude is whack and will belief anything kooky

I meant about the black hebrew stuff. But I found something. Doesn't get much worse than this...
Interestingly, Cunningham made a living out of being beaten by white fighters, so that had to burn a lot. LOL

Ya there's loads on his instagram about it too, tbh I don't really know anything about it other than some of those dudes were on Louis Theroux and came across as nutty
Re: Devin Haney said he'd 'never let a white boy' beat him
Maybe when Fury gave him a neanderthal sized whoopin, it messed up his head. Kind of sad, Steve always took it on the chin and seemed to be made of better stuff. Too bad.
Re: Devin Haney said he'd 'never let a white boy' beat him
Years gone by this sort of comment could off and would off been a bit tongue in cheek ,, Then the fighter would go out and fight the best ,,, Problem with some of these guys , its not tongue in cheek , and then a lack of pride will step in when they cherry pick , dodge and swiffel and just wait till someones too old

Re: Devin Haney said he'd 'never let a white boy' beat him
Bernard Hopkins expressed his “white boy” sentiments more than twelve years ago, prior to the social media era, whereby people were far less sensitive than they are nowadays.
Times have changed. People can’t get away with saying such things today.
Devin Haney meant what he said and hasn’t apologised for his words. He denies being racist, whilst refusing to retract his “white boy” claims.
Other fighters have received suspensions for conveying jokes that were deemed of being of poor taste, so surely Haney deserves similar treatment for his sincere comments?
He probably won’t receive any sort of punishment though, because the US seems fairly relaxed about such things, bearing in mind Deontay Wilder’s passionate ambition to “take a life”, which he keeps being allowed to say over-and-over again without suffering any consequences.
I wonder what would happen if a “white boy” claimed he couldn’t be beaten by a “black” fighter?
Personally-speaking, I’m not really that bothered about the words being uttered by most fighters.
Nearly all of them are deeply flawed and shouldn’t be considered as being role models.
I’m just curious as to whether two people with completely different skin colours would receive the same amount of criticism from expressing the precise same racist sentiments.

Perhaps some 'white boy' could try it just to liven things up during lockdown.
Any candidates? Not too many obvious ones, are there?
How about Caleb Plant? Here's a chance for Caleb to gain some free publicity and clear up this obvious double standard discrepancy.
He could always later claim his Twitter account had been hacked into if things started to get ugly.
This sort of nonsense should at the very least be treated equally. I'd rather laugh at such idiotic proclamations, but some others may feel offended and demand punishment.
If so then the punishment should be equal. Standards of behaviour apply to all human beings - apart from motorists of course.

Since then has come another decision, this time to walk back the comments altogether.
“Over the last couple days I’ve had time to reflect on a lot,” Haney revealed in a public statement on Tuesday. “I sincerely regret using a term that I have now learned to be derogatory to many of my fans, friends and associates.”
The original conversation was inspired by a Super Chat comment (a YouTube feature which allows users to pay to pin their comments during livestreams) made by made by a poster from the handle Mehari Nation Sports Podcast, a boxing and basketball-themed YouTube channel.
“Salute to 78, Devin & Bill Haney,” read the pinned comment. “I hope you’ll end the hype of Loma so I can rip BFFTV all day long. Keep grinding Devin, greatness is coming from you.”
‘BFFTV’ refers to Black Fight Fan, who hosts the daily Trill Talk In the Morning boxing podcast on the Trill Boxing Talk YouTube channel. Black Fight Fan is an admitted Lomachenko fan, often referring to him as ‘White Jesus’ and who has drawn playful ire from his followers over his instance that the Ukrainian southpaw runs the table at lightweight. Haney and his father and head trainer Bill Haney are frequent guests on the Trill Boxing podcast, on which the conversation has often come up and where the host has repeatedly insisted that he’d pick Lomachenko should such a fight ever materialize.
“I have learned a valuable lesson and I will continue to show the kind of person that I really am and will continue my quest for greatness inside and outside the ring.”

The problem with Devin Haney’s apology was his initial refusal to apologise for his actions.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑21 Apr 2020, 14:43 Since then has come another decision, this time to walk back the comments altogether.

It seems the backlash may have compelled him to attempt to rescue his severely tarnished image, with his friends, family, advisors etc. all advising him to retract his absurd claim.
The entire boxing world will inevitably rejoice when he’s eventually beaten by a white man.

This doesnt hold water... mike tyson is still the most famous fighter and i looked it up on wikipedia and he is in fact African AmericanTony1244 wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 18:56His head trainer is white Jay Deas. I looked up that song Black Magic. Crappy lyrics but I don't really see the big deal.
Wilder isnt a star because he fought bums for a decade
Re: Devin Haney said he'd 'never let a white boy' beat him
Wilder fought "bums" for about 6 years as a pro, but close enough.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 10:46This doesnt hold water... mike tyson is still the most famous fighter and i looked it up on wikipedia and he is in fact African AmericanTony1244 wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 18:56

Mike Tyson had endorsements like Kodak before he crashed cars and got in trouble for domestic abuse, etc.
Wilder would get endorsements if he came across like a Timothy Bradley or SR Leonard, but he doesn't, so few if any endorsements.
Re: Devin Haney said he'd 'never let a white boy' beat him
It didn't help Wilder's star power that he was a World Champion making his 6th or so title defense before he fought anybody that was seen as a real threat.Tony1244 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 12:16Wilder fought "bums" for about 6 years as a pro, but close enough.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 10:46

If Wilder KOs Fury and AJ in his next two fights he still won't get mainstream endorsements.gilgamesh wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 12:32It didn't help Wilder's star power that he was a World Champion making his 6th or so title defense before he fought anybody that was seen as a real threat.Tony1244 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 12:16

Alan Minters comment was 40 yeas ago, in this day and age you are never gonna hear Lomachenko/Usyk/Alvarez/Fury/Beterbiev/Taylor/Golovkin etc say ''I would never lose to a blackboy''.brilo33 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 13:06 honestly couldnt care one bit about his tweet, iam a white boi from london and been called it enought times, i wish more fighters said it, and i think like haney does too,i rate haney as boxer dont care what he thinks , i dont watch him for his speeches or brain , i watch him because i like the way he boxers , not being funny but a lot of people think on his level
They know if they did. Their career is gonna be severely damaged because of it. So a blackboy should never get away with it.
American blacks are much more racist/race obsessed and ignorant than other groups. Theres only 1 blackboy in the top 10 P4P atm, and theres 7 white guys. So it's very laughable if he means it by racial superiority considering how boxing is at the moment.
They've always been very ignorant and bizzare with this. I recall during Wladimir Klitschkos decade of terror reign, in his prime when he looked unbeatable. They would refer to David Price as the 'Great White Hope' . I found that very bizzare considering whites were completely dominating the division so there was no need for a white hope. They are race obsessed and just are deliberately ignorant
