I remember Barry Hearn saying Herbie Hide was going to be the greatest heavyweight who ever lived in an post fight interview, maybe he'd been on the Chablis, but it didn't quite work out.

I heard a story that Andre Agassi father was a reasonable amateur, boxed for Iran, and lost his bottle on his pro debut, claimed out of a window and never boxed again.

I remember reading that Ricky Groves (Bulla) was a tidy boxer. Ray Winstone as well

I've read that about Winstone as well, every professional cockney claimed to be a junior champ!

I remember once before a fight in Basildon, I had some idiot telling me about his amateur career. Apparently he had boxed Kirkland Laing twice, he never laid a glove on him untill he knocked him cold each time with one shot in the last round!

Saying that Georgie Smith was fighting on the same show, he was hugely hyped by Hearns, but then that was Hearns way, same for the Delaney brothers.

I remember years ago i went to get my hair cut at this new barbers. I went to school with the guy and he went to my boxing. He obviously didn't remember me and the conversation switched to boxing and he was telling me how good he was and how he was top man in McIntyres gym etc... He was an absolute turnip Couldn't hit water if he fell out a boat

There's a show on Netflix called losers and it's about losing in sports and the first one was about Micheal bent interesting watch ,he was a 4 time golden gloves champion but lost his pro debut in the first rd

I watched that episode & I thought it was great.
