Apparently Martin Lawrence (Bad Boys etc..) was sh1t hot at boxing back in the day!
Re: British Hype Jobs...
I've read that about Winstone as well, every professional cockney claimed to be a junior champ!
I remember once before a fight in Basildon, I had some idiot telling me about his amateur career. Apparently he had boxed Kirkland Laing twice, he never laid a glove on him untill he knocked him cold each time with one shot in the last round!
Saying that Georgie Smith was fighting on the same show, he was hugely hyped by Hearns, but then that was Hearns way, same for the Delaney brothers.

I remember years ago i went to get my hair cut at this new barbers. I went to school with the guy and he went to my boxing. He obviously didn't remember me and the conversation switched to boxing and he was telling me how good he was and how he was top man in McIntyres gym etc...
He was an absolute turnip
Couldn't hit water if he fell out a boat

Those were the days. Staying in on a Friday or Saturday night to watch Audley vs Richel Hersisia with Nicky Cook and Carl Johanneson on the undercard.Carlos wrote: ↑30 Apr 2020, 09:53Man - remember over on Dogghouse we were all aboard the Audley choo-choo hype train.jameswilson wrote: ↑30 Apr 2020, 09:49 Tom Stalker was absolute toilet compared to what was expected when he turned pro wasn’t he?
You were the driver, I was the stoker, Oli Fennell was the ticket conductor and Chambers was sat on his ass in First Class as it went right over the fornicating cliff with the rest of the Dogghouse forum laughing their heads off at us...![]()
I remember it was us four - I bet no-one else will admit this horrible relevation now...![]()

Brits are too busy hating their own for there and longing for schang freudin or whatever it's called to be that many of these tbh. Guy is with a major promoter and network? F@ck him, let's hope he loses to his promoter cries!
Haye was a hw hype job
Price for sure , there were some nay sayers but the commentary and even most the hardcores were wild on the bandwagon. Never mind beating Fury, he was gonna KO wlad and all that

I think I'm right, on points in the ABA finals, I think they had already engraved Youngs name on the trophy.
I could be wrong, I'll do a google!

I remember about 5 or 10 years ago all the Scousers talking about that Middleweight they had, I think he retired undefeated but injuries stopped him progressing. The Scousers Were really talking him up.

I knew a guy who was friends with Steve Barnes and swore blind he was destined to be a world champion, as did Brendan judging by these words:

Yet he retired after losing to a journeyman in his fourth fight.
