If he's as injury-free as he claims, and he looks 210-15 these days, I actually believe he could perform better than his last four fights (at that weight). I think he could still beat quite a few heavies. But it's his pre-injury Chisora form he'd need to compete against the current champs, which leaves him in oldman Holyfield territory.

If he wants one more fight to try and end on a high there are several options for him, but none at the sharp end. Plus, there's a fair old chance he'd reacquire injuries in training.

He was definitely crocked going into both of those fights, that must've affected his ability to train properly and fight his normal style.

I think what I'm saying — what I believe — is that he couldn't train as hard as he'd need to for a championship fight, but if he trained just moderately hard at 205 for a British-level fight, I think he'd have a chance of putting in his best performance since he beat Chis.

I agree with this.

I loved Haye as a CW: The way he rebounded from his loss to Thompson to become the unified champion was inspirational, but his HW career was cynical and horrible.

I'll give him his win over Valuev, but Valuev shouldn't even have been the champion, as 86 year old Holyfield arguably beat him; that's how poor he was.

The rest of Haye's HW career was a joke, particularly the Harrison farce, with not one world class scalp.

He was a con merchant at HW, as Tony Bellew successfully proved when he saw right through his 2016 farcical comeback.

Might be, though I'm wondering if injuries have dented his power too, wasn't really hurting Bellew much at all even prior to the snap, and punch resistance/balance seem totally shot. He really has to win very early.

I think we've thankfully seen the last of Haye inside a boxing ring.

He had his time, and was one of the best Cruiserweight Champions of all time. He's almost forty, and his body has proven that it can't hold up to a proper fight.
