Clearly Beat Hopkins who was faking low blows. Beat a prime unbeaten Kessler who went on to beat froch. Was the undisputed no1 super middleweight and lightheavy weight. With Lewis probably the greatest British fighter of all time. Hardly overrated. 46 tried. 46 failed. Record speaks for itself. Won on the road. He did it all.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 08:59 Calzaghe is overrated due to his padded record. Here is a guy who fought garbage and got put down by the likes of Salem and Mitchell. He beat Kessler, a guy who got outboxed by Carl Froch.

Certainly with Calzaghe, the incredible hand speed and fitness compensated for chronically bad hands and an inability to really spar very much. In a way Lennox gets the nod of Calzaghe for the higher profile, but great as Lennox was I think in terms of special abilities Calzaghe was ahead.

Lol Hop was put into a shell, outlanded massively, and turned into a total flopping bitch that night. It amazes me that people think he won that, no way. But I guess, 'omg it's the master boxer bhop, he by default outboxed his opponent, wow he's so crafty' LOL
Cal comfortably beat a Kessler who then beat Froch when they next fought, weak spin by Leppy. Joe dealt with Kess easy in 1 try, Froch took an L and didn't have it easy in either. Even in the rematch when Kess was at the end of the line Carl got pusheed hard and even sagged in round 11.
Joe just had more tools to neutralize Kess

Re: David Starie
Carl should get more credit for not pulling out of that first Kessler fight after the build up and delay with the ash clouds. And he gave a solid showing as well. Not to make it about the tiresome joe vs Carl debate the fans seem to obsess over, just that credit should be given for keeping the show going. Joe would undoubtedly have pulled out under the same circumstance.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 19:10 Lol Hop was put into a shell, outlanded massively, and turned into a total flopping bitch that night. Ya, credit to Carl for flying to Denmark with tongue fully in cheek and fighting valiantly in a close defeat

BHop did cleaner work all night, landed counters that werent scored or mentioned by the judges. Meanwhile Calzaghe slapped at air all night. The first round was 10-8 too.Steveh583 wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 18:42Pissed up, I thought b hop won on the night cos his work was cleaner. Lololo, Bhop was scared and not throwing for like 9 rounds, was a total crying bitch that night
Dudes who thought he won that were prob the same who thought he was gonna school Kov, I know Leppy was. Overratiing his effectiveess and just defaulting 'schoolings' because well he's bhop

The truth lays somewhere in the middle. B hop was most.def in the fight and landing some eye-catching stuff. But Hopkins was moaning and Joes workrate won it in hindsight

Re: David Starie
Eye catching was very few and far between considering BHOP was mostly scared to actually punch
He started well and then just got mauled and bullied, he was mentally broken

Guess it's what you like. As I said, on the night I thought b hop won cos joe looked untidy and he was accurate. But i was pissed and on 3 pills. Next day i saw joe won, but not easy

Re: David Starie
Even if he was accurate he did absolutely f@ck all for like 9 rounds, I don't see any way he won that , he was turned into a total bitch and defo outlanded despite all this accuracy talk
It comes down to what you like , true, and thankfully the judges got that one right and didn't score for crybaby

Re: David Starie
He lost pretty clearly, but to be fair, he was like 40 something and well on his way down the wrong side of the hill.
Re: David Starie
He def did himself a disservice with the constant moaning. Particularly after all the whiteboy comments.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 20:36 Even if he was accurate he did absolutely f@ck all for like 9 rounds, I don't see any way he won that , he was turned into a total bitch

Not to mention it was the honest judge Adey Byrd who scored it for Bernard.

Well it was a pretty clear win for Hopkins on my card. The second round is a good example of why I think Hopkins won. Calzaghe got the round on the cards of Lederman/HBO and Sky but what did he do? Nothing, he got countered hard a couple of times and by the end of the second round he had thrown 33 jabs in the fight and landed none.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 20:24 Lololo, Bhop was scared and not throwing for like 9 rounds, was a total crying bitch that night

As for Hopkins Kovalev, I thought that Hopkins wouldn't take the fight because of Kovalevs rep as a puncher and solid output so when he took the fight I thought I must have overlooked something and trusted Hopkins intellect in that there was something he could see that I couldn't.

Re: David Starie
Max Kellerman did give Hopkins the second round also in fairness to HBO
Re: David Starie
Neither guy landed many jabs. Punchstats had 11 landed for Hopkins and 45 for Joe. Calzaghe threw nearly twice as many punches and landed 71 more. Two of the three judges saw the fight correctly and Byrd wasn't one of them. I had Hopkins winning the first two rounds; and the 11th. PS: I was rooting for Bernard.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 20:42Well it was a pretty clear win for Hopkins on my card. The second round is a good example of why I think Hopkins won. I'd be happy to go back and look, but Joe took over the fight after the second round. Maybe the back half of three, but I'll go back and look. It's ok to disagree.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 20:48Well I don't know how you didn't give Hopkins the third round for a start.oogiebe wrote: ↑05 Jun 2020, 20:47

Round three close but still gave it to Joe. Def better back half of round.
