Eddie Hearn told you Froch phones him on way to the show for rundown/thoughts etc.....he knows probably less about Boxing (now) than half this forum. So he has some knowledge about the fights etc.

These guys are within ear shot of judges at moment and the complete nonsense they were spouting was nothing short of a disgrace. Matthew Macklin for an ex fighter doesnt have a clue what he is talking about. They are insulting the fighters during the fight and think they have a god given right to do it, shut up and commentate on the fight and not about lack of discipline etc. Johnny Nelson calling Sam Egginton a gate keeper after that loss, is he for real he lost a shed load of fights.
I have never been a fan of the commentary on sky after the hired Darren Barker to do Martin J Ward v Ronnie Clark, he was that bad he apologised the day after on twitter. Refusing to acknowledge body work and lauding everything.
They need neutrals in NOW. I'd like to see Paulie Malignaggi and Andy Lee. Dave Coldwell used to be half decent but has towed the company line.
That was my view on it and was also asked to do a sky podcast with matt and andy scott to talk about it went on for about 40 mins but will be edited down to 8 so dont know how much wil get shown.
Twitter had a lot of current boxing people really showing there surprise at the commentary on sams fight. Its an interesting subject for sure

It’s funny isn’t it how boxers can know sod all about boxing. Amir Khan is another one.
Re: Sky Sports Bias!!!
Apparently Jamie McDonnell doesn't watch boxing at all and has never been a fan. At least he doesn't pretend to know.jameswilson wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020, 05:58 It’s funny isn’t it how boxers can know sod all about boxing. Amir Khan is another one.

You should probably at least keep an eye on those in and around your division, just in case.
As far as the Sky commentary is concerned it looks like we're just gonna have to put up with whoever is pally with Fast Car for the foreseeable.
Boxing is a short career and everybody would like a cushty, well paid commentary/punditry job afterwards, unfortunately theres few that are actually good at it.
Looks like I'm in the minority here but overall I think Macklins decent.
Re: Sky Sports Bias!!!
The little fellas are criminally overlooked as it is, especially the foreign ones. Inoue was a 2 weight world champ FFS. Kugan Cassius asked Jamie Conlan what kind of style Jerwin Ancajas had, Jamie shook his head, smiling, and said “couldn’t tell ye!” then got banged.Webbo911 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020, 12:18![]()

I was the same, Rocky 4
I loved to fight I hated the training and never use to Watch boxing at all, would go if a friend was boxing that was about it. Now I love it, I follow it and I even train harder now then when I fought
Re: Sky Sports Bias!!!
Sports people in general, there's one thing competing in the sport but analysing it is a completely different matter. That's why you get decorated footballers who've won league titles, european cups and even world cups talking utter drivel and banging out tired cliches or ask an F1 racer about the internal workings of his car and the aerodynamics and he probably won't have a clue, he's just there to drive it.jameswilson wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020, 05:58 It’s funny isn’t it how boxers can know sod all about boxing. Everytime Smith and Macklin commentate on a British title fight or a competitive all British fight, Smith suddenly starts talking about Arthur-Gomez then spends a round talking with Macklin about the Moore fight.

He really is a prat isn't he, it's like he can't commentate on a fight involving a Mexican without mentioning "machismo" or Barrera vs MoralesPredatorHayds wrote: ↑06 Aug 2020, 06:52 Everytime Smith and Macklin commentate on a British title fight or a competitive all British fight, Smith suddenly starts talking about Arthur-Gomez then spends a round talking with Macklin about the Moore fight.
