Bowe and Lewis signed to fight each other in 1994. Bowe had to beat Larry Donald, Lewis had to beat Mccall, then TVKO superfight in spring 1995.
That happened in the real world, and can easily be verified.

Re: Lennox Lewis is the GOAT
Lewis defeated more major belt holders, former and future by the moment of their meetings. You should have added not only Rahman, but also Bruno, Tucker, Weaver. Plus Morrison with Akinwande, if to consider WBO, which became major in the mid 2000s. Also, Botha, who won IBF, although by a robbery and was later stripped of it for PEDs.
Talking about Lewis-Bowe ducking each other is childish. It was just like Joshua-Wilder, Fury-Joshua negotiations today. The mass media wasn't that strong back at the day, with no internet, so it wasn't that opened information for the public, like today, but they were almost set to fight on several occasions.
Talking about Lewis' greatness, I consider him at least the best HW ever.

Re: Lennox Lewis is the GOAT
In terms of a head to head against any other heavyweight in history Lennox would be hard to pick against given his natural ability and skill set, in terms of an all time Heavyweight list which of course is based on actual career achievements then I’d place him at no5, would be higher if not for those losses or should I say the manner in which they happened. All talk of avoiding and ducking fights is just gossipy teenage tittle tattle.

At least 3 of those were at the tail end of their careers, he had 2 “weak” losses in getting one punched twice, there’s other heavyweights with better resumes, well at least 4 in my book.edsnowden wrote: ↑29 Oct 2020, 07:30Look at Lennox resumelittlepug wrote: ↑29 Oct 2020, 07:14 In terms of a head to head against any other heavyweight in history Lennox would be hard to pick against given his natural ability and skill set, in terms of an all time Heavyweight list which of course is based on actual career achievements then I’d place him at no5, would be higher if not for those losses or should I say the manner in which they happened. Who beat better heavyweights? And his only two losses, he avenged via knockout. Nobody can say they got the better of Lenox. Is that true of Ali, Louis, Foreman, Dempsey?
Re: Lennox Lewis is the GOAT
None of those names had a loss like those Lennox had, doesn’t matter if he avenged them the losses still happened, Ali has wins over Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Norton and Shavers and bunch of other quality wins which trump that list, Louis reigned for a decade which takes some doing and had 25 defences, Foreman demolished Frazier and Norton took 10 years off then won the title again 20 years after first winning it, that’s amazing, Holmes had an 8 year reign with 20 defences, not amazing opposition but mostly young unbeaten lads that were decent before they all got into drugs, went to rehab an got feasted on by Tyson and others in the second half of the 80s. Lennox had good wins but stands out and get marked down for getting one punched twice, no one else in my top 10 heavyweights list has suffered losses like that.edsnowden wrote: ↑29 Oct 2020, 08:53He also came back to beat those people. Re: Lennox Lewis is the GOAT
Ali got beat by Leon Spinks and Trevor Berbick.
Louis got beat by Max Schmeling and Marciano.
Foreman got beat by Ali and Jimmy Young. Lost to Tommy Morrison.
All heavies got beat.
Lenox avenged his losses which were from two quality opponents and beat more former and future world champions. He beat Vitali K when Lenox was almost 40 years old.
When Ali was at the end of his career, he was getting his head knocked around. Louis was beating an animal like Vitali K. At the end of his career, Lewis knocked out Mike Tyson.

Ali got creamed at the end of his career.
Lewis goes 1-1 with 2 quality opponents, which is worst thing of his career...... and that rules him out! What a double standard.
Louis and Ali couldn't speak at the end of their careers, Lewis is articulate and avenged his losses with a brutal KO of Rahman and a dismantling of McCall.
Plus Lewis beat a longer and better list of quality opponents.
Even Foreman said Lennox is the GOAT!
Be real.

Re: Lennox Lewis is the GOAT
Are we reality to this point?
Never heard anyone having Lewis higher than 3rd.
He is usually in the 6-8 range.
Beating 5 past major beltholders is the argument people are using?
Past it Holyfield,
Shot Tyson
Which leaves us with what, Klitschko, McCall, and Briggs?
Seriously, that's the argument that Lennox Lewis is the best of all time? Wow.

Re: Lennox Lewis is the GOAT
Your reaching now mate, Louis got beat in the 12th after a hard fight with Schmelling and was well past it for Marciano, Ali was a shell of himself at the end of his career, Lewis was in his prime and got one shotted twice by guys who are what? Top 40? Top 50? Top 60? If you’re gonna debate about greatness you have to do it without bias and look at things subjectivity, wether you like it or not those were 2 poor ass losses Lewis suffered, Frazier got done by Foreman but it took a lot more than one shot to do it.mayorcurley wrote: ↑29 Oct 2020, 11:35Louis got tattooed by Max Schmeling and Marciano.littlepug wrote: ↑29 Oct 2020, 10:39None of those names had a loss like those Lennox had, doesn’t matter if he avenged them the losses still happened, Ali has wins over Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Norton and Shavers and bunch of other quality wins which trump that list, Louis reigned for a decade which takes some doing and had 25 defences, Foreman demolished Frazier and Norton took 10 years off then won the title again 20 years after first winning it, that’s amazing, Holmes had an 8 year reign with 20 defences, not amazing opposition but mostly young unbeaten lads that were decent before they all got into drugs, went to rehab an got feasted on by Tyson and others in the second half of the 80s. Well lets start with the obvioius: Ali
His resume
Liston
Patterson,
Frazier
Foreman
Norton
All better than anyone that Lewis beat at the time that Lewis beat them. (Holyfield and Tyson well past it)
Not to mention:
Terrell
Quarry
Ellis
Bonavena
Young
Shavers
Lewis' resume compared to Ali is a joke.
Louis had a better one as well.
Lewis was obviously a great fighter. His is comparable to Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, Holyfield etc.
Better than Ali and Louis? No way.
