Styles makes fights.. I don't think the right Smith turned up that fight, and he would probably dominate a rematch.forcefraser wrote: ↑13 Nov 2020, 06:28 If John Ryder (no disrespect to Ryder) can beat Smith, which he did clearly in my opinion, Canelo will fold him up like a deckchair.
Won't even be competitive. Similar to the Fielding fight.
Would much rather see William Joe in there with ginger ballax

I like Callum Smith but cant see anything other than a 10th/11th round stoppage by Canelo
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - 18/19 December 2020
hard night for smith based on the ryder fight !
should give gallagher something to do though rather than whining .

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - 18/19 December 2020
Smith should hang in there for at least 6 rounds, but as soon as he lets off with the jab, he is going to get punished.
I agree with a previous poster about Callums inside game, it's actually quite good. His greatest problem is all that body for Canelo to pound at, and given how tall Smith is, the liver shot for Canelo is right where he can deliver a full strength overhand right.
My prediction is Smith will win 4/6 rounds on our cards, 2/6 on the judge's cards, and get folded in half if he doesn't stop Canelo.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - 18/19 December 2020
I see this going the same way as when Liam fought Canelo. Callum has never faced anyone remotely on Canelo's level, or the level beneath, which is crazy given how long he's been a pro.

Bellend seems to think Smith will win

Has Smith ditched Joe as his manager?

Canelo is so good at taking a jab away from anything less than a completely elite fighter (GGG had to throw the jab with a LOT of variety, changes of rythmn/tempo etc, to get it through on Canelo).... more 'straight-up' fighters without that variety tend to get their jab countered hard, heavy and often by Canelo, especially like you say a great big tall, upright target, without particularly active or light footwork? ouch.
although I would say, Smith's power is legit, and I could imagine Canelo being fairly cagey; I do think Smith hits hard enough to get his respect, I just think it's likely to be a moot point as (kind of like Suibson vs Hagler) he'll be technically dominated before he has the chance to really make his power count.. i can absolutely see it like you do, the left to the body breaks him down and gets his attention, and the overhand right uses that same positioning to finish Smith off
actually Sibson-Hagler is about the same contrast of levels that I would view in this match

Joe would always try and get involved though - just like he did with Tasha even though she’s managed by MTK.jameswilson wrote: ↑14 Nov 2020, 06:10Think Callum was always like Anthony Corolla in the sense he was self manager but trained by Gallagher.
I remember Joe seeing Eddy Reynoso somewhere in the States and, according to Joe, Eddy said they’d fight Callum next. Joe then starts saying in every interview that if Eddy is a man of his word etc etc then the fight should happen next. If anything that would just piss Reynoso off.

El Gancho Izquierdo is what the old Telefutura crew called the left hook to the liver. Pull up Popkins vs Oscar as case in point. Fitz left hook to Corbett had the same effect as Oscar, but the footage too degraded to distinguish from the solar plexis punch that they called that in the day.
Callum a great fight and fighter looked off vs Ryder, but in no way lost that fight would be a great Canelo fight.
Corona Virus Beggers can't be too choosy in jump starting boxing, yet we've got the usual sniffles moaning about Ancient Robert Byrd in the Franco/Maloney rematch when his polar opposite Russell Mora was who botched that headbutt phantism, so you boys have plenty of company.
Yes you can

Have to be thankful that you post infrequently. As terrible as you are, that's the singular mention on the pro side of your pro/con sheet as a poster.

Maybe if Canelo beats Smith he could end up against Smigga. Could have three brothers on his resume.

Canelo wins this around 8/9 quite handily. Smith is a decent boxer, solid but Canelo has too many dimensions; faints, head movement, counters. I can see him forcing Smith to give up his height, draw him in, make him over reach and counter. There’s plenty of body for him to chop at too

Smith just posted a poster for the fight on his Instagram.
I know fights get made official at press conferences but fair to say I think we can expect a press conference some time soon.
