I wonder if Smith is a few weeks into a proper camp for this fight already. If not he’s gonna be a little undercooked.

Assuming he’s well prepared I don’t see this as the walkover that others do. Smith has a good jab and can bang hard enough to deter Canelo just walking through him like in the fielding fight. I know Smith isn’t as polished as Kovalev but Canelo had a lot of trouble dealing with his jab until Kov inevitably faded badly late on. If Callum gets off to a good start and keeps things at long range it could make for an interesting 2nd half of the fight.

Smith will take it seriously, will be better prepared than against Ryder, but still it's hard to imagine him not ending up KOed.

Bellend is everywhere as usual

"Make no mistake, Smith is the test of a lifetime for Canelo," Tony Bellew told Sky Sports.

"Smith is bigger in size, stronger, undefeated. Canelo? I'm not so sure he can deal with the size and the pressure that Smith will bring. The biggest shock that Canelo will find? When Callum gets on the inside he is not to be messed with. I think Callum can shock the world.

"He will be a heavy underdog because Canelo is pound-for-pound up there with the big boys. Canelo is the best counter-puncher in boxing and a devastating body puncher. If anyone has the keys to unlock the door, it is Callum."

I would have preffered CS to have had an interim fight to shake off the ring rust after such a lay off , its inevitable that canelo will have had better sparring sessions in the last 6 months or so .

The fight was first discussed in July.. even before that he was an option for May. I hope he has been training.

For me, anyone from 160 to 168, should be ready at all times. Canelo can literally just pick you as an opponent.. plus he usually fights around the same time every year. No excuses.

Canelo on points for me (not the most daring prediction, I know) however I'm hoping the level of opponent will bring the best out of Callum. Good addition to the end of year boxing schedule.

Boomer once predicted a future p4p list full of scousers. He meant it. Selkirk, Swifty and Pricey were battling it out for number one. Frankie Gavin was allowed special entry because he trained with him.

really? how so? Callum's better than Liam and about 18lbs bigger
I think Liam is better than Callum in many respects. Callum got beaten by Ryder for me. Callum isn't as good from long range than Liam for me. Doesn't have as good of a jab and does most of his best work on the inside. I also think Liam has a much better defense and gets hit less. Callum has more power but he's going up against the best chin in boxing. If John Ryder is walking you down and beating you up that doesn't bode well. Liam seems like a much tougher guy too in terms of punch resistance. I simply don't rate Callum smith that highly at all. I think Canelo stops him by the midway point.

i think 'make no mistake' filled his quota of 'scouse tv talking head cliches' for that particular sentence. Believe you me, he would have got it in there if it was a possibility
