Give Dubois a chance to speak.

In reality these are the difference between champions and contenders and these differences are often highlighted in the championship rounds.

Sadly many judges seem to disregard jabs.dookus wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 09:51Classic example of how subjective boxing can be - do you take the guy who's landing the better work but not much of it, or the one landing dozens and dozens of jabs but almost nothing else? I had Joyce clearly ahead with the jab - it was doing enough to bust DD up long before the 10th - but I can see how others might see it tight or even DD a neck ahead. (5 points ahead, though? No.)olij999 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 09:43I didn't watch the fight but listened to it on the radio. They gave Dubois all of the first seven (while admitting that some were close), Joyce the eighth and possibly the ninth (frankly, I was dozing off at that point), so that would also make 88-83 to Dubois at that point. Not saying that is necessarily a good score, just that the judge in question was not the only one to have it. Interesting to see the range of views here.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 05:04 it was john latham who had dub up wide, 88-83, it wasn't 8 points so not as bad as first reported though still quite generous to dd. victor laughlin had it 87-84 jj and mark lyson 86-85 dub

Dillian Whyte is an absolute pudendum! Real scum who has no class whatsoever. He still acts like he's a tough yardie living in Brixton, a ganster that is untouchable. In reality, he's just an average heavyweight who is around at a time when the heavyweight division isn't all that. To be far more experienced than Dubois, a fellow 'British' fighter with not much amateur experience he comes out and calls him a coward! Seriously? All because they 'called him out'. Everyone has been calling each other out this year to stay relevant. Whyte could have shown some class for a fellow British fighter who is still very young in the game and told him to keep his chin up but you cant expect that from a wannabe thug.Tarquin Tarpaulin IV wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 10:45When you get something in your eye it's debilitating. Funny to see some of the folk calling Dubois names. David 'Sore Toe' Haye for starters. Dillian Whyte calling him a coward. I don't suppose you want to tell everybody about the time you knocked out the lad in Sweden do you Dillian?

Just throwing this out there for comment...
Wasn’t what Dubois did last night similar to someone tapping out in MMA?
I get that he wasn’t in some chokehold but effectively his opponent beat him up so painfully that he thought it wiser to take a knee for a full count and effectively submit?

Re: Round-by-Round: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
I don’t blame DDD at all. His eye was getting worse and he was tiring. It’s not as if it was a World title fight and he knows he can come again as long as he doesn’t get permanent damage.
Re: Round-by-Round: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Joyce was landing a ton of swiping body shots throughout that were only barely acknowledged by the commentary team, who were awful throughout. Again, another example of desperately trying to back the house fighter despite him walking back to the corner from round one looking already red nosed and disheartened and me swearing at the TV and asking "what f*cking fight are you watching?" Every time he went back to his corner he was increasingly mangled, and Joyce didn't look particularly marked up or phased at all.
It wasn't just jabs. Joyce outmanned him and beat him up.
I'll choose my words carefully, but Martin Bowers' corner work basically consisted on him "putting the frighteners" on Dubois in much the same manner as he did on people throughout his previous career, and that's telling. I've just watched it back and Dubois clearly whispers to him between the bullying "I can't see, though" before just being sent out again. Bowers is a ruthless bloke and when it came down to it his lack of compassion showed.
People should pipe down with all this "he quit" sh*t. He quit, but he quit because he was made to quit by a referee and a corner that were never going to pull him out, and a promotion that had put so many eggs in his basket that they were prepared for the poor kid to just get annihilated with a possibly career-ending injury. Dubois was bloody brave in my opinion, and shouldn't have been put in that position. Disgusting. I'd consider a new team if I were him.
As for Fish Eyes, his management of this whole thing from the word go is worthy of another thread. He promotes both blokes and still at the end didn't want to give Joyce credit and was angling for a rematch when really he should be pushing for Joyce's possible shot at the vacant WBO against Usyk. What is Joyce's contract with Fwank like? He needs to get away from him ASAP. Fwank clearly doesn't want him and has shown himself up big time here.

Johnny Nelson said the following:
“Joe Joyce exposed that [Dubois’ in experience]
“It probably was a [huge] shock to the people that believed in the büllshít machine,
“If I keep telling you ‘this kid is this!’ or ‘this kid is that!’, without you looking at the facts, you’re going to believe my büllshít!”
“Unfortunately, [Dubois] is going to be in line to receive a lot of criticism for the way the fight finished.
“This is going to be a huge test of his character to show how he deals with the negativity he gets, because he’s never had to [deal with] any negativity,
“Now he’s going to receive 90% negativity [being] thrown at him.
“And this is going to show his maturity, his strength and bounce-back ability...”
“Dubois made a fundamental mistake he’s going to regret for the rest of his life. In regards to taking a knee and letting the count take him out!”
“It was the first time he was on the receiving end of what he usually dishes out!
“I hope to god this doesn’t break his heart and he falls out of love with this sport, because of the backlash he’s going to get.
“Unless you’ve mentally prepared yourself to be stretchered out of that place [the ring]... when everything keeps going your way, and then all of a sudden you’re on the receiving end of a beating you’ve never [experienced], receiving pain you’ve [never felt]...
“Dubois, it was an instinctive move to say, “you know what? The tables have turned here. I’m in deep here! I can’t carry on!’”
“If you’ve got a [büllshít] machine that’s behind you, ‘this kid is this, that and the other’...
“Of course you’re going to believe it!”
“You build him up, and if they fall, they’re going to fall HARD!”
“Dubois quit! He did quit! What else did he do? He quit!”
“This was a conscious decision! There’s no excuse for it! He did quit! He showed a weakness of his character!”

Excellent point. I though the ‘corner work’ I could hear was little better than heckling. A lot of shouting and swearing and criticism and no constructive advice whatsoever that I heardCyclops wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 11:44I'll choose my words carefully, but Martin Bowers' corner work basically consisted on him "putting the frighteners" on Dubois in much the same manner as he did on people throughout his previous career, and that's telling. I agree. Wonder if MMA fans as moronic as some boxing fans when that happens - do they go on and on about a fighter ‘quitting’?milpool wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 11:41 Just throwing this out there for comment...

Why do some of these ex fighters have to pass such negative comments?
Hardly helpful to anyone , feel for Dubois a bit here , was an awful injury and it was hardly chucking it in like Joshua did against Ruiz .
Like the sound of their own voices most of em .

Joyce is far from pretty to watch but he will be a very hard night for everyone. He’s massive , bull strong , iron chin his movement is improving. You’re going 12 rounds whoever you are.
(nor was that fight as one sided as history leads you to believe, fury won the first two rounds and the last two in a ten round fight, many of the other rounds were open to interpretation)
Up their game.
Re: Round-by-Round: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 28 November 2020
Two things :
1) Johnny Nelson...slither back under your slimey little stone and stay there
You haven't got a quarter of Dubois' guts !
2)Martin Bowers has done a good job with Dubois, however, neither Bowers or Dubois had it in them to beat Joyce, be it the cornerwork or boxing ability.

I can’t help feeling that Whyte ending his tweet with the hashtag #fishy somewhat undermines his message to ‘grow up’.
