Finished the George Groves Pod and it is very enjoyable It didn't feel anywhere near the 2hours 46 minutes it lasted.

Now we've heard Groves' side of the Adam Booth split and it doesn't reflect well on Booth, but it would be good to hear Adam's version.

Also very interesting to hear his side of the parting of ways with Paddy Fitzpatrick.

Dixon covered the amateurs really well before leading us through Groves' stellar pro career.

Done a few over the last week:

Sugarhill Steward was a bit strange, evasive on even basic questions. Frustrating

Margaret Goodman was a good look from the medical side. Very engaging and insight on subjects that aren't often talked about

Bellew came across well although some of his more outlandish statements made me chuckle.

Schumacher was a sad tale but a riveting listen. The nature of the murder conviction was still sounded raw even after all these years

I’m 2 hours into the Groves one, brilliant listening. Hopefully finish it off this week.

You cant fault Groves' honesty when it comes to Degale. It's somewhat childish and spiteful, but he's 100% up front and honest about it.

We all have have irrational dislikes sometimes and I couldn't imagine for one second listening to a DeGale interview for 2hrs 46 mins

I’m about 90 episodes behind now, but really trying to catch up. Listened to the Bellew one today and enjoyed it. I’ve always thought Bellew speaks well and is pretty engaging, unless he’s trying to promote one of his fights

Really enjoyed the George Groves one - he came across really well. He made a remarkable revelation about Fitzpatrick.

What did he say?

He made a comment that he liked 'a smoke' and that caused issues between them.

Really enjoyed the Scott Welch one - yet another ex-boxer who comes across as a class act and he shared some great insights. Only thing that surprised me with this one was that Tris seemed to be rushing him and talking over him at times, so assumed they were on the clock, but then at the end Tris mentioned they spoke for a couple of hours after finishing the recording! For example, Scott spoke about Mike Tyson coming down to stay with him for dinner in Shoreham and said it was a great night, so I was waiting for Tris to ask him what happened that evening, but he just glossed over it and moved on to the next question... I was gagging to know what went on as it sounded like such a surreal situation

Even Benn and Eubank snr became civil with each other years later, but I think the dislike runs so deep between Groves and DeGale it would be unlikely...even with a new Barnet up for grabs !

Groves even said during his interview with Dixon that he wasn't overly worried about boxing DeGale again as the years went by, because it would also mean DeGale earning well from the fight !

I find the lower level boxers generally have more interesting stories and are a better laugh than the big names mostly.

I really enjoyed the David Diamante episode.
As he's not an ex pro boxer or trainer he might not be everyone's cup of tea but he's a great talker and has lived a rich and entertaining life. I'd definitely recommend this one

As a comment on the George Groves one to those who are put off by long episode - don't be. The time flies by and there is so much great content in there. If anything I'd have liked a little more on George's last two fights (Eubank Jr & Callum Smith).

I hadn’t listened in a long time. But read the comments on here and listened to the Groves podcast today, it was a great listen. Was surprised at hearing about the way things worked when he was with Hayemaker. It didn’t seem that way at the time at all.

Started the Ed Robinson one after but not far in but he seems a decent guy.

I just love the line from Barry about Herbie Hide when Tris said to him that Barry had gone on record as saying Hide was the best heavyweight since Ali, and quick as a flash Hearn responds saying "well I'm a promoter, I'm not going to say he's the second best heavyweight"

I've started this, interesting that Eubank said he only had three rules when they started working together, he didn't want to box southpaws, anyone under 25 or anyone unbeaten !

I think Frank has had a half decent career. Barry invented the leisure centre fight nights. If it wasn’t for Eddie, Matchroom wouldn’t even be in boxing.
